Keeps crashing when trying to quick save
Hey guys, need help. The game works perfectly, the lighting and night vision works as they should, but when I use quick save a couple of times the game crashes, when I turn on the game again, the default settings are turned on , and the save i played before becomes corrupted, it is impossible to play on it. I tried to install the 1.05 patch, but it doesn't install, it shows this message: could not retrieve installation folder! installation will be aborted. I tried to play the game only with the normal saves , but after about five or more saves, game crashes again.

Not much I can really say, since you didn’t provide an os you are either on win 7 or 10/11. Given the games overall age either new hardware or software can cause unforeseen issues.

I'm on windows 11. So this issue isn't fixable?

You could always try the pc wiki, I haven’t played in years last was on win 7. Maybe running it in compatability mode could fix it.

it runs on windows 11 without issues. Try running the patch exe as an admin.

check defender, click virus & threat protection> protection history> and see if anything is being blocked

Hey there! Fortunately, our own testing has shown that the game should run fine on Windows 11, but note that this can depend on so many other factors. Either way, we can troubleshoot this.

We certainly recommend running the 1.05 patch with admin rights, as Fried Brains has very wisely suggested (please make sure you are going from the base game straight to the 1.05 patch, which you can find in our patches repository[patches.ubi.com]. We also recommend this for the game itself.

You'll find that step in our troubleshooting guide[ubi.li], which I recommend doing all of. In particular from the guide, please make sure you've verified the game files, you've got your graphics drivers and Windows install fully updated, and you've (at least temporarily, for testing) deactivated all background programs.

Let me know if this issue persists after those steps, and I'll see what else we can suggest.
