The screen on the right of the device is the running possibilities for each of the 4 possible number sets for the address. Simply click on the currently highlighted number on the device screen to the right, this will eliminate all the other number sets on the screens to the left.
You have a limited amount of time to solve each address, sometimes this means you're forced to guess at the correct number set. As the game progresses the amount of time allowed for a solve gets shorter, the hacks in the final mission are cruel.
IMO using the mouse for the hacks is faster than controller.
i tried pressing highlighted numbers with enter key but still alarm goes nuts , what exactly i have to do i don't understand .
I still have the Xbox game manual that came with the game, with the 2005 game once you are sure of the address you could select it from the left screens by highlighting it and then pressing "A" = Interact.
To pare down the address, (eliminate false numbers) you could lock correct fragments on the right side screen by holding the cursor over a currently highlighted fragment and pressing "X" = Equip Item before the scanner moved on to another fragment.
Pretty sure you can search PC version SCCT game manual for hopefully more precise help.
