I think only a fresh windows installation might fix the issue. I think there are some setting files or registry entries left somewhere, so even uninstalling and reinstalling the game, it does not fix the issue. So yeah, just a fresh windows installation is the only solution i figure out.
Odd though even though many have the issue just as many don't, me for one. I don't suppose people maybe accidentally somehow randomly activate sticky keys? I read it seems to be an issue with some win 7 8 and 10 users, I don't know if it flakes on its own or a new program messes with it. or corrupted files.
It makes me think if I had access to another keyboard or game pad I'd try them just to prove to myself it is or isn't my primary board. I know when playing my late 2001 Xbox I had to rotate the towers during start up and before playing otherwise the avatar would move in circles.
14 plus yrs ago I had a microsoft win xp keyboard that developed a dead key.
Sometimes it happens to me when I push shift+tab to bring Steam overlay hud on top, and if my character is running, it keeps doing even though no key is pushed. So i think something like that happened with Splinter Cell. It's weird btw that there is no way to fix it. Usually restarting the game, or pressing the triggered key back, it is a fix.
I had this issue with one of my original xbox controllers but the movement direction was right. As soon as I started playing a game (doesn't matter which game) the character or vehicle would turn to the right. What I had to do was move the thumbstick to that same direction for a couple of times and it would stop. But without pressing any other key, just the thumbstick ( so in this case just press S, without shift ).
but i did talk about pc version
