Cell phone controls bugged on xbox controller?

Was fine for the first 5 or so hours but my controls are totally bugged for the cellphone with my xbox controller. None of the d-pad buttons work except left and down and both bring up the phone. I also cant get rid of the phone menu. I cant even go through the menu either. This is almost a brand new xbox controller and works fine with baldurs gate 3 all the buttons. I tried with my keyboard and the phone menu is fine. Not sure what happened havent touched anything.
