It is very heavy compared to dungeons, so I think it will slow down to some extent.
I think this is to avoid slowdown.
If you are playing on a laptop make sure the game is using the dedicated Nvidia GPU.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Hopefully they will release some patch to improve this. I remember how they did it in VIII which greatly improved the performance.
Even in the generation of pre-rendered games such as 6, Fel
gana, and Origin, the performance did not change no matter how fast the GPU was, and the only reason for that at that time was the very high CPU load.
Of course, nowadays, CPUs are very fast, so there must be another reason.
As I've said elsewhere, even on PS4, dungeons were close to 60FPS, while towns were sometimes below 30FPS.
(Especially during encounter combat).
The PC version also maintains this trend.
At today's GPUs, The quirky proportional FPS will be quite high.
I tink is not real good optimised
Durante & his team worked on the PC port. As always, they've added some things that will be overkill for most systems. I haven't grabbed YS IX yet. But he's done such great work to fix performance issues on many games prior to starting his own company. Also jumped in and improved Ys VIII.
Maybe it could use a day 1/week patch. Still, it should be a decently optimized port.
