Steam Next Fest Demo

New demo? yeah this might sound strange for those that have been following for a few years.
But this new updated demo is the closest representation of how the full game will work.

It contains the intro for the game, setting up the story and then you'll get to explore a hub area where you can talk with character and help them out. Then the "old" demo level is also playable for you to get a sense of the flow between hubs and linear levels.

I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to those who've supported me this far and shared your feedback on the demo. If you haven't played the updated version, then the weekend is the perfect time to dive in this world!

Demo Feedback 2/25

I just wanted to give my thoughts on the game because I really liked the art and visual style of the game, but felt like some of the other parts were only OK. To me the base movement speed was very slow and made walking around picking up all the coins kind of frustrating. I ended up jump-air-dashing throughout the entire game so that I could move around. I know other games solve this by having a default run mode with a toggle/hold-walk state for more precise movement. This brings me to 2 complaints with ...

3 Years of Progress [Devlog]

Hey!

Crazy to think it's been 3 years now. I've been quite bad at updating the steam community here, to be honest I've been quite bad at updating overall. Things are good now but last year was a bit rough. I've made a devlog if you guys are interested in seeing some new stuff.

In short, the game is progressing really well. I'm wrapping up parts of the game and I've got a good feeling about all of this.

NEW DEMO + OTK Expo Showcase Feature!

Hi everyone!

I'm so sorry it's been a while since I updated you guys here but I come with great news!
PaperKlay will be released in Q2 2025, this will give me time enough to make sure it's a fantastic adventure!

A new updated Demo is now live for you to download and test out, let me know what you think. I'm very proud of where PaperKlay is and how it feels.

As this announcement goes live, PaperKlay is being featured in the OTK Expo Showcase which might be the biggest thing PaperKlay will experience before release, at least when it comes to amount of eyes on the game.

Something I almost forgot to mention, the main theme of PaperKlay is created with a collaboration between Steven Melin and Grant Kirkhope (who did the soundtrack for Banjo-Kazooie, Goldeneye, Mario + Rabbids and much more). So when you play the demo, give it a listen in the main menu!

Demo feedback

The game has really good atmosphere, visuals and sounds. The main character is adorable and animations are perfect. Platforming feels nice and easy. The demo didn't really showed me why I need the glider. Was a bit confused about controls because there's no hint on keyboard keys (just on controller). Would like to see some original game mechanic that would make this game different from all other platformers. And combat could also be improved - now it's just there. I was a bit annoyed with unskippable...

Demo feedback

After playing a few NextFest demos, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this one! The game feels fun, quirky, with low stakes which is a nice change of pace. I enjoyed the characters and little missions, but I could not for the life of me find the first level egg, so I can't tell if there's more to the demo beyond that and the frog level egg? I played the opening level about 4 times, with the same cutscene each time (surprising, I would think after re-entering a stage it wouldn't replay the opening...

One small feedback

You pick up a frog to feed it in the demo and he keeps repeating the same line every few seconds. This is incredibly annoying. Please stop the same lines from repeating, they add nothing except negativity to the game.
