What's needed?
What do you think the game need to be add? For me a better tutorial with progressive introduction of the concept is needed. Maybe some kind of situation editor where you can build your puzzle and try different possibility, and also an AI vs AI function just to look and analyse what's going on, also a replay system or some kind of way to save the complete board state at the end of the game.

A soundtrack would be great, it's kinda tiring to listen to this "white noise". But the upside of course is that you can always turn on lo-fi Mozart beats to chill/play chess to without feeling guilty that you're missing out on good soundtrack

Yeah nice and chill. Maybe they can get the guy who did the Pictionary Soundtrack

I would love an interactive tutorial honestly. The puzzles are good but you don't always understand how you completed them unless you already understand the concept.

I second a replay system, or some way to store a game and at least look at the final board state again.

I'd love modding support for custom rules and pieces, as well as coding your own AI.

Also something that keeps track for me, how many timeline branches I can still make without them being voided.

I also hope for a scenario editor and would love to see steam workshop integration.

Seeing pieces that can move by hovering over them instead of painstakingly having to click every single unit on every single board.

Being able to play directly on the alternate perspective views, instead of having the boards instantly flattened when clicked.

I wouldn't mind the lack of scripting capabilities if you could make your own starting configuration. A little disappointed you can't, but there is a lot of starts, so not exactly getting bored.

I greatly agree with this, the automatic flattened perspective doesn't help to develop a "4D spatial vision" and that greatly hurt the learning curve.

+1 I also agree with this sentiment. Additionally it would be nice to have a setting or something so that you could hover over the pieces to see their moves when zoomed out aswell

An adaptation of SAN, so we can do replays and analysis.

Hyperdimensional (I hesitate to call it true 5D because of the nonvertical concession) chess is its own frontier, because of the myriad new dimensions exposed: Material advantage (because of cross-timeline piece transfer), timeline advantage (consequently, who has the open timeline?), relatively classic spatial-temporal advantage.

Besides, I'm sure that's a Youtube career just waiting to happen, like with chess analysis.

I think this game needs pretty much everything that people have said here. Some sort of soundtrack/ambient noise other than white noise would be very nice, it really needs some way to undo turns or save/load/replay games, being able to play in the other viewing modes, and especially an actual tutorial.

Personally I have a really hard time learning when I can't undo moves against the AI when I make mistakes. Like if one of my moves puts my king from the beginning of white's 5th parallel universe over into check next turn, but it's checkmate because my pawn from the 4th one over is blocking the space/temporal diagonal that my bishop would take to get to that space. Sure, I learn that lesson, but the learning stops there. I'd learn that just as well if I could try a different move and see what I could have done better, instead of just knowing what I should not have done.

Make the arrows for crated timelines black/white, like how the inactive timelines are now, then make the inactive timelines half transparent or faded. It would make the concept of timelines belonging to players quite a bit more obvious. I don't think I've seen anyone on YouTube figure out how timelines become inactive on their own. But, if people could look around and see they have 3 while the opponent has 1, some of them might get it.
