Why close the game?
I love the idea and 99% of the execution of this game. The only thing I don't like is that it closes the game every time. Why close the game entirely? Why not go back to the menu instead?

At least, that's what I was going for. People are more than welcome to think it's pretentious or dumb, but it was a way for me to express myself. Hope that's a satisfying enough answer. 🙏

Well, it's an honest answer that satisfies the question. I have to say, though, it leaves me conflicted. On one hand, I want to support you because the game is funny and I love the idea. On the other hand, I don't want to support someone who intentionally tries to annoy me. I know there are people who enjoy being annoyed, insulted, belittled, etc, but I am not one of them.

Regardless of my personal feelings about this choice, I do appreciate the concept and your vision and I wish you all the best.

I understand closing the game at several key points in the story.
That would cover what you wrote.
If I understood it well, and it is not mostly about trolling- I certainly don't think the intent to be pretentious or dumb. Yet it's slighly misadjusted because:
- the repertition is a bit overkill for its meaning
- it get really repetitive (as in boring) at several instances
- having to start the game so many times eat ressources and triggers lag for some computers--it made my antivirus a bit paranoid--which breaks off the play experience, the immersion
All of these might actually lessen the impact you aimed at given the quality of your game and the more than enough content it has.
In a nushell, at some points, closing the game works, and at others, it's jsut tedious and meaningless and that makes the previous seems less meaningful.

SPOILERS

An alternative I could have suggested would have been to add a feature after the player closes the games themselves for the first time:
a feature using the API of the level when the narrator comment on the player's desktop to display a modal box with some message "the game closed" and button "restart", or "give up"which would close it for real this time. That would also helps the player know if when there is no more content for real.

That being said, the game, as it is right now, might be worth more than its current price. It's a little Standley Parable that works just wonderfully on its own...<3.
Some levels were more pleasent than others (I'm thinking about the false shutting down, the visual novel, the mendatory time the door opens, the time we get to unplug the game, the meta content about the unreal engine... so cool!

As a bonus, for getting all achievment, I would have loved to get (((a real date with button-sempai))) I mean, a room with buttons aligned in a spiral so it get very pleasent ot trigger them all, and they might each make a different noise and change color. That would be lovely.

Any way, thanks for everything <3

I believe it's important for some surprises it gives you, if it didn't close the game every time it won't catch you by surprise.

Well the game does similar things dat you do, except its mar of a horror theme, and it messes with its own game files. X3
Starts deleting its own files, like example of character in its game play, when ever the character (Not the player) gets YEEETED, her/he is YEEETED for every and no matter how many new game sessions you do, you will never see her/he again, and I'll stop there so I don't give any mar spoilers out. :P

So dat might give U sum ideas for a new game project. :3
(FYI: Its hard 2 annoy meh btw, I have literately listened and watch 10hrs of nyan cat. X3 so yes pls question my SANITY. >w< )

The messing with Gamefiles also was made by Undertale... 2 years before doki doki.
But there was games doing it from way before, i remember "I'm Scared" of 2012.
3 years before Undertale, 5 years before Doki Doki.
But there is even older games!
Probably you're just a kid who never met those games, but it doesn't mean they didn't existed...
Pokesus Dec 30, 2023 @ 2:29am
In fact, Im Scared had the ability to create gamefiles on your desktop with secret codes and scary images, and i remember games who were able to change your background of your game or after it closed it talks back to you with sounds or little laughs.
(Like this game also do, that's why it scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me)
And things like that, other games know when you don't played it in a while and if you return too late they mess with you.
Wait until discover the Metal Gear saga.
You will lose your mind how in 1998 they made a bossfight in a videogame with someone who can read what other games you have in the console, and start saying those games before the fight.
And being able to read what controls are you pressing or gonna press forcing you to change the port of your console gamepad.

Sawry, I'm mostly immune to jump scares LUL. X3
(Narrator: Says the person that karate chopped their Monitor, because a zombie appeared out of thin air behind them in a said game. . .)

And messing with files is pretty easy with cmd built into the game. :3
(Narrator: This is why certain games will ask for admin rights to your PC.)

Or say the names of the games you played or etc without needing a CMD or admin rights because all its doing is grabbing folder names inside of a folder like STEAM games folder "steamapps\common" . :3
(Narrator: No admin rights are needed because all the program is doing is getting folder names and not actually modifying/editing/tampering with any data, so your security will let it pass, this also includes inputs from controls like a mouse and/or keyboard.)

And I guess the reason I hardly ever get a scare from horror movies, is maybe I'm just as twisted as the game devs that made em, I my instincts are mar fight dan flight type IDK, I'm no psychologist expert here. >w<

I DON'T CARE.
Im just saying Doki Doki is nothing special or new, games for decades have been doing it.
That's why the main game has no inspiration of it on it.
But probably has inspiration in many other older games.
Please don't base your entire personality on that ♥♥♥♥ game.
It's incredible cringe.
