Realism Physics so slow. Like riding in water.
First lets make some points clear before my little rant and wishes
1. English is not my first language. Behold grammatical errors
2. I do ride bike on track and have made really good progress, even won some races. So i can speak from experiance. A little..

My question to developers: Do you plan to adjust lean speed in this game or it is written in stone by now?

I like this game but if physics is not changing i'd like to refund it. I've got 116 mins of playtime and now if I play i won't be able to get money back.

As i said, i do participate in motorcycle races. my bike is 2008 Honda CBR 1000rr. Stock
BUT even I with my old bike can flick it faster and do a direction change than guys in game.
First i thought that my game was lagging, i turned FPS counter an it was OK, i've got 102-120 fps.
Leaning and direction change speeds give me impression that this is not a normal racing, but that I am racing under water or something. It feels like air in this game is much thicker than in real life. It makes everything much slower.

This is not an impresssion made by third person view. I really compared my real recordings to this game replays. My direction changes in real life are much faster. It seem like this pro guy who is sitting on a bike in this game tryes to turn it like he is driving on a steet, not on track.
i may drop some little secret for real life racing, if you need to change direction fast, you can use both hands to do it, pull with one and push with another. this tecknique makes it alot faster.

I tried to adjust the bike's setup, it does not help. i used every technique i know to turn it faster. (openning and closing throttle on different stages of a turn. breacking etc...) It does not help. I have am impression that I am not racing sportbikes in this game, but partisipating in American Bagger racing, where guys race BIG Harleys on track.

Everyting exept thai is really good. Developers got the power slide quite right, almost perfect. The closed throtttle, the trailbreacking part...

Also I somehow dont get speed sensation, buy this is not so much important to me. I wanna play good simulator off-season =)
I know i'm gonna anger some guys, but Ride4 got better speed sansation and direction change feeling than Rims (exept slow speeds). But everytnig else is trash in Ride4

Well said! I hope they are listening.

I've been trying to find a way to verbalize this sentiment and you've hit the nail on the head. That's exactly what it feels like...try to flick the bike through really thick air. Yup..that's the main thing holding the feel of this game back. What's crazy is going back to Ride 4 or MotoGP after playing RiMS... Spending time in RiMS is like practicing with weights on. You get WAY better at the other games after playing RiMS!

I track my bike also, its a 2015 zx10r. This is something that needs work.

As I said, I really like this game, thay did great work for physics modeeling, for tesxtures and models of bikes, everything looks perfect, even better then in real life (in a good way) My little problem also is with pressure setup. Why do we have to set up "cold" pressure? When you race or do track day you'll almost always have tyre warmers. I tracked alot without tyre warmers but I am MotoHobo. Even I got myself used warmers after some time, to set pressures from start. If you look at stats mid race, you'll have waaay higher tyre pressures thay you'd like, because you cant put cold pressure lower then 1.6 if i remember correctly. I end up with 2.1 on rear tyre. In real life I race at about 1.8 hot pressure. Pirelli gives 1.7-1.9 reccomended hot pressure for racing.

But thats a different story. I really thank you guys for supporting my words.

I do hope developers will listen to us. As I said, I like this game, I want it to succeed! I think devs made great work, exept this one crutial part with lean speed.

I do not know how can I or We (community) help to make it better. If devs need some feedback or something I can try to do what is in my abilities. I do not know, If devs need, i can try some beta tests, maybe give more direct feedback... something...

As always, Best wishies!

I was a real rider. Rims's lean speed is OK, considering both race tracks and road tracks.
IMO, the issue is not on bike. It is because lack of riding position adjustment.
And the way this game handles countersteering and lean angle.
Countersteering is auto, like most bike games.
I think that is a good thing for players.

I know, jesus, that's the first thing I noticed. The bike leans over so slow you'd think you were on a cruiser. I mean, the speed can get away from you, but at 40 mph, you should be able to flick into a corner almost instantly, but the bike just very slowly kinda leans over and then you go off the track

I do not agree with you on speed sensation. In my feeling RiMS Racing has the best speed sensation ever. You may feel there is no speed feeling because RiMS has narrower field of view. From my experience it represents reality in much better way than any other game. I am all against exaggerated speed feeling coming from unnatural wide field of view.

As for physics and lean speed. This indeed may feel a bit unrealistic. If you go full throttle in the game at full speed, the front tyre feels unloaded too much and bike goes very wide like there was no possibility to steer. Thats why I slightly reduce the throttle to turn.

I do nit have track racing experience, try not to ride over my own limits. But in general I prefer RiMS racing more than Ride physics where bikes feel floating over the ground.

The lean speed is a problem with most bike games. Did you tried the MotoGP series?
Juffo-Wup Oct 26, 2021 @ 12:05pm
Every non-dirt bike game I've played has had this problem. The rider takes forever to transition sides and lean, and countersteering is not done the way riders would do it (if the game does it at all).

The only thing this game has over ride 4 are the customizations and the bike sounds. The physics are trash. That is my opinion at least

Yeah I am finding the leaning to be slow indeed. This needs adjustment. I dont feel response to it. Which makes it more frustrating cause I know the speeds am going at I should be perfectly fine around the corners.

especially not the cornering speed goes very well in games:steamthumbsup:

It really doesn't matter I come in last every single race anyway, They leave me in the dust on every straight even if I take them in the corner and the brakes, LoL, these brakes remind me of the real braking ability of the Harley 883 I had years ago.

Hey hey, thanks for the thread. Lots of great feedback and comments.

So let's get straight to it. We will not change the rider lean angles... because you can!

It's probably are single largest gameplay complaint, and just as it is tricky to explain It's tricky to fix! Anyway, with this in mind I want to explain to you the settings I use in-game (because I totally agree at first the bike was super slow to throw around)

It kinda all comes down to the controller you are using, there are so many out there its difficult to find a setting that fits all out of the gate. (Most of people playing RiMS will probably never look at the custom controls, except to remap once).

Within the custom controls section there is further settings you can adjust and play with.

Default:
Sensitivity: -2
Dead zone: 1
Saturation: 100

Me:
Sensitivity: 5
Dead zone: 1
Saturation: 80

If i remember well the defaults were like this. I use a Nacon Pro controller at work and a Xbox One controller at home on PC. I found differences between them, and its really a trial and error situation. But I was able to get the rider to react quicker to changes and body movement. I also found disabling auto-tuck gave some more freedom, but its super annoying for me to hold up on the straights.

I am no track veterean, I rode a little motox when i was a kid so if you've all tried this already and still finding it bad, It's something we will go away and focus on.
