Games like Thymesia?
Hi guys !
I enjoyed playing Thymesia. It was my first "Souls like" and i liked the challenge.
Now i would love to play other games like this.
I tried Sekiro some months ago but i didnt enjoy it.
I was thinking i could start by the classics, the Dark Souls series but wanted to know if you had other games like this to recommend me?
Thanks !
EDIT : In fact, now i love Sekiro ^^'

give a gamc called MORTAL SHELL a go, its similar but more convention combat, with intense parrying mechanic, the next best thing if you want a indi "souls" like

I dont know, my experience was constant lack of ammo for both guns (maybe there was something wrong with my build or how scaling works, or i chose wrong weapons). Fighting bosses felt tiresome and annoying because of these swarms.
I played through 2 full realms, but then lost interest and never finished the game (and i finish 95% of soulslikes i play).
Id say its one of better games i didnt fully enjoy (better than Code vein or Mortal shell anyway), and when i think about it now, maybe ill try it again.
Code Vein was great. I never felt the "souls-like" in it, but I LOVED the weapons, combat and story. I especially loved the customization I could do on my toon. The game felt good except for the companion (if you had them) talking non-stop. But some bosses were incredible, and extremely hard without the companion, whichever you chose.

I disagree. Hellpoint and the Surge are both better, imo. Hellpoint is probably the best souls-like not made by FromSoft, imo. You might argue that Deck 15 isn't an indie studio, but they're certainly not AAA.

You're hopeless then honestly. Sekiro is the best game ever created, after Hollow Knight of course. If you didn't stick to Sekiro until at least Genichiro, oofers.
Ok guys i installed Hellpoint and played just for one hour. Seems cool for the moment :)

Hope you enjoy it. It is quite a bit larger than Thymesia, and does feature NG+ modes, as well as ways to make the game harder and easier. There are times when enemies spawn differently and certain areas are locked away behind time and puzzle gates. The game is huge fun.
Bloodborne is one of the key inspirations for Thymesia but a certain Korean online action rpg is more closely tied to it but i will never give it's name because i'm a filthy gatekeeper.

Pascal's Wager is similar too but it's DeS and D1 slower and graphically looks like those as well.

Just as a different opinion that is against the grain. I loved Lords of the Fallen and for the £3 that it costs on sale it's well worth it. I was never a fan of any action RPG and after eventually getting into Dark Souls, I tried LOTF afterwards. It helped me learn more about boss paterns and melee combat as the bosses are way easier and predictable and the game is a lot slower which helps with melee.

So for anyone wanting slower pace, easier bosses with a nice setting, Lords of the Fallen is pretty good.

The most similar combat to Thymesia is in Sekiro (parrying, that makes enemy weaker) and Bloodborne (overall speed, healing on hit etc.).
- Ender lillies

I usually loathe 2d souls, but I really liked Ender Lillies.

Sekiro just sucked. Worst game from From since the first DS.

I wouldnt say its worst, but its different enough to be noticeable in a way that soulsborne fans may not be happy about.
I think it was a great game i enjoyed playing, but when i think about details it is the original souls formula i prefer more and would choose any day over Sekiro.
But surely i like Sekiro better than weakest game in souls franchise, that is DS3

If you don't mind me asking, what didn't you like about Sekiro?
I know I didn't really enjoy it on my first playthrough, but that's a game that really needs to click in order to have fun imo, otherwise it just feels clunky.

While I can agree about the rest, I'd surely say the weakest part was DS2. Why in you opinion is it DS3?

Well, as you have said, it might not have "clicked" for me. In DS I was never the parrying type, I always used shields or did evade. I loved Bloodborne, even without shields, there the parrying was ok.

So how the combat was done in Sekiro, a flurry of attacks I had to deflect and then start my own, it never felt good for me. Also, with the upgrade system, it never felt like any real progression to me.

Exploration was ok, but in the end, it was never an experience as satisfying even as the first DS and DS1, where I had to look some things up and still needed help with bossfights.

In my opinion DS3 was just one big fan service, without its own identity. It had so many assets/tropes present in previous games (the same looking blacksmith, onion bro, Illythyl looked like snowy Bloodborne, dragon attacking bridge when you walk over it, mandatory swamp level, pretty much the same story as DS1, etc.) that it looked like it was glued from these elements. Gameplay was alright as always, but the rest felt disappointing.
DS2 had its own problems, but i enjoyed it much more.

I didnt like parry-posture mechanics. Im not a fan of parrying in souls games, and Sekiro is full game based on it. Some enemies have attacks so fast that you pretty much have to spam parry button to deflect them all. Some have strange animations and its really hard to parry in right moment.
But besides that it was top notch game, visuals were awesome, good bosses, cool lore. Stealth mechanics were also fun.
