What's next?
Mad Games Tycoon 2 is here in full version, time for a little glimpse into the future of Eggcode.

What game could be next?

I would like a Mad Movie Tycoon. A simulation of Hollywood in Eggcode style. Movies similar to the games in Mad Games Tycoon, but by hiring actors with all their wishes, problems, etc., a new exciting factor would be added.

And again many exciting decisions:

Is the film coming out in cinemas or on Netflix?

What am I spending my money on? Location, film star, star author or camera technology.

Do I want to win the big film prizes or do I prefer to cash in? Can I create a masterpiece and do both?

Which game do you want? Mad Games Tycoon 3? Mad Tower Tycoon 2? Mad TV Remake (if legally possible)? Or something completely different?

For the time being we will continue to work on MGT2 and after that Eggcode will dedicate himself to his new project. What kind of game it will be or where it will be about will be revealed in a trailer or an announcement at some point. Until then, have fun with Mad Games Tycoon 2.

I'm sure there's still a lot of work to do on MGT2, despite it being a truly wonderful experience. Just keep up the good work please. Just don't give us the HL3 treatment with the next game :)

@OP There's a lot they left out in MGT2 (ie: multiple PC 'platforms' like Epic, Steam etc).. so there's definitely room for another game with even more to it(which is wild) but i will accept DLC if they don't think what they're adding constitutes enough for a whole new game.

The game you describe is mostly what "The Movies" is about, so you can already play it.

There will be no DLC's for MGT2 and very big new features will most likely not be released very often or maybe not at all (Can't go into this further as I haven't talked to Eggcode about this yet!). Don't worry, the work on MGT2 is not finished with the full version and they are still working on it. That's all I can say about it. In any case I wish you a nice weekend and a lot of fun with MGT2.

No it is not. I know the game and it focuses on actually making movies.

It is not a film-themed business simulation. While some areas may have merit in both games, The Movies clearly focuses on how to actually make a movie, which is not the case with Mad Games Tycoon.

Or do you actually program in Mad Games Tycoon yourself, build the slot machines yourself, build the consoles yourself? No, you hire employees, draft an idea, take care that the finances are right, etc.

I think if you want to make a comparison then maybe it's more like the Hollywood Pictures game.

That wasn't a direct question to the developers either. I just wanted to have a little discussion with the community about what the next game could be. :)

You have clearly never played The Movies, then, or have never figured out how to do things automatically. The game can be played fully as a business simulation, without ever actually making a movie "yourself." You hire directors, cleaning staff, extras, writers, repairmen and actors (and stunt doubles if you have that boring extra content enabled,) build a script building, let writers write the script for you, send it to rehearsal then to film, and release the movie without actually taking part in the movie-making at all. I played dozens of playthroughs of that game without actually "making" a movie, since the movie-making part of the game wore itself out pretty quickly for me.

So the comparison stands because it's a comparison of two games that work in very similar ways, except for the theme.

Hmm actually I put the game aside pretty quickly because I didn't enjoy the movie making part at all either. Maybe I should give the game another chance. I will test that again. Thanks for the hint.

I'd love an official editor similar to MGT2 Tool. I'm not taking anything away from the author of MGT2T, and I learned a few things from it, but it would be nice to have an official editor to add things like companies and stuff. It might help people who want to add their own things but don't have the technical skills (some people don't get on with stuff like that), and the requirement to have Java installed. To be honest I'd even pay a couple of quid for it (up to £5) as a kind of little add-on or tool to edit the game. It would add replay value as well, and it can be fun seeing how altering various things skew the game.

I'd love for a sequel to Mad Tower Tycoon, but more in depth than the original. What I liked about MTT was the fact I didn't have to route wires and the elevators didn't take space up (for some reason that killed Project Highrise for me). There was quite a lot that could have been built on as well.

Similar to the movie suggestion, you could have Mad TV Tycoon. You start off a little public service broadcaster in your home city, and then expand to national coverage, maybe international and streaming later on, with PPV channels and the like as well. You could have various set-ups where you're broadcasting to everyone, or you're on a cable network and need subscribers so you can grow, and this could work as a scenario mode

You can either buy in shows, or start your own production team up focusing on things like news, sitcoms, procedural dramas, and so on. You could have the choice to create a station dedicated to various markets, go exclusively for a market, or have multiple channels. In terms of subsidiary angles, you could buy up production companies that make shows. Publishing is covered by shows giving you either regional, national, or global exclusivity for a period of time.

Your money source is advertising and sponsorship, and if you have unique IPs you can also allow companies to use the IP for royalties. If you're producing your own shows there's the possibility of companies paying for product placement, which is affected by the popularity of the shows. You could also create a system similar to the suitability of topics vs genre, so a show about healthy eating wouldn't be suitable for product placement for sugary snacks. If you're producing, once again you can syndicate your content, which could even affect the ability to broadcast it yourself (you allow Star Bores to be obtained for a period as an online exclusive with Dismay+) for either royalties on a per viewer basis or a lump sum

There could also be random events such as a star dying or being embroiled in scandal, which could result in a show losing favour with the public, sponsors and advertising pulled from it. On the flip side, you might have a low production value show going completely stratospheric, and make loads of money from the syndication.

Just an idea though.
If this game has taught me anything about game dev, it's that the next game from Eggcode should be either Mad Games Tycoon 3, or some action RPG gamedev spinoff
RPG Adventure gamedev wizards spinoff!

And other game dev sims exist as well. I mentioned that Project Highrise exists as well as Mad Tower Tycoon. There can be multiple games on a topic.

I checked out the game (in Videos) and it looks like a Mad TV clone. Possibly cool but not a movie business simulation.

I watched the game again. In fact, you don't necessarily have to make a film, but the focus is on it. I've tried the sandbox and for what it wants it's a great game, for me personally the spark didn't jump over, but even when I played it again.

So I do believe that such a game by Eggcode would have a right to exist, especially since The Movies is already showing its age.
