Low active subscribers for MMO and F2P
I successfully launched high rating games as both MMO and F2P multiple times but each time failed to make a profit. Downloads for F2P are record breaking but active subscribers are very very low (below 100k) and I have also tried charging minimum subscription fees in case of MMO and minimum in-app purchases but nothing works. My save game is in the year 2035-2040 and research is all done / exhausted. I have got tons of server to support subscribers toll. In the in-game world, there are multiple MMO and F2P games out there but I still manage to launch GOTY games for MMO and F2P. Good response in sales and downloads but horrible active subscribers. Is there a bug or am I missing out on anything?

Please write your difficulty level and some numbers of your MMO / F2P. How many sales, downloads, subscriptions and profit you make. Maybe the balancing is a bit messed up ;)

MMOs now more harder to get started.

I tried ist on difficult hard on norrmal speed.
My first MMO was 2020, i used in-app-purchase on full level, 5$ per sub and sale it for29$. On the market were over 20 MMOs from the NPCs, my game got 93%, was a successor and was the only RPG.

It sells poor for two months, than I reduced in-app-purchase to intems & clothes only (the lowest option) and more buy it. But only 20.000 subs...
After the fourth month I reduce the price to 19$ and more buy it, and after a year if got 100.000 subs and the interest level begins to breakdown. In the fouth month I began to develop a MMO-addon, that comes after week 55 after the release and 10 weeks pre-sale.
With the addon the subs increase and the saled copies og the MMO increase to.

And now the interessting.
With every addon the MMO sells more copies and more subs came in, after the second addon I have nearly 500.000 subs and 2.500.00 selld copies of the MMO and the two addons.
I became money primary from the addons, not from the MMO or the subs. Each addon sells bettter and better. The first addon needs 26 weeks to sell the same copies as the MMO, the second need 15 weeks, the third 10 weeks and the fourth needs 5 weeks for nearly 3.500.00 selld copies at full price (29 standrad game).

The fourth addon makes in 12 weels nearly 60$ millions, incredible.

It seems like free addons had a very liitle influence for sales and subs of the MMO and addons.

For me it works, different to the old system but good.


F2P I tried and I find no way. I can't say it did not work, I need more trys to fiond out.

Medium Difficulty, Interest above 90%, multiple F2P updates, almost 30 million downloads, Active subscriber 98k and decreasing.

I think the balancing has messed up. How do I post a screenshot?

I tried this (in legendary difficult) : released a MMO with 97% review, cheapest (5$ per unit, 1$ suscribe) + 100 hype (around 2010)
=> i had "almost" 1000 suscribe per week.

Also I tried the mobile games feature, in 2011, i think the numbers of active users is really low.

Oha, $40 million loss. That's really tough. ;) ... How many F2P games are on the market with you? Maybe the competition is having too strong an effect.

Competition has more downloads yes but lower user and press reviews. Also they are older (some 10 years old). I got everything working with newer tech and 91% rating vs. ~80% competition.

Hello guys. I have the same problem. In my current savegame, there are 11 MMO games, but 4 of them don't have any subscribers. My MMO game has the highest subscriber number (around 38,000) which is a low value. The game was reliased in 2003, has a high interest and press rating.

Some additional information:
Level: Legendary
Competitors: 60
Speed: Normal
Year: 2007

Number of sales of my MMO game: around 430,000
Subscribers my MMO game: around 38,000 (the highest number was around 42,000)
Profit of my MMO game: minus 7,000,000
Addons: 3 free and 3 paid
Realise: 2003

Number of MMO games: 11
Number of F2P: 1 (700,000 "sales")

Hope this is resolved soon, playing again today with same issue of low subscriptions in both MMO and F2P.

In my legendary save I was able to get to 600k subscribers in the early 2000s, so it's not impossible. If I remember, my 1st MMO was a bit of a flop, but I gradually made the money back when I made it free to play. Even then it was slow going, 50-80k profit per week at the high end.

So, I used to create very profitable games playing at the legendary level before the update that has allowed NPCs to create their own MMO games.

Actually, at that time, if I released two MMO games (the only two MMO game in the entire savegame), only the first released used to sell a lot and have a lot of subscriptions.
