What's the point in swapping roles?

Maybe I didn't pay enough attention yet, but to me it looks like player models and capabilities are the same, plus there are situations to choose each player's path pretty much before every puzzle. Besides, the players are in the same room periodically and see the same things.
I guess the only purpose of a role swap is to see the opposite location when loading a checkpoint?
I suppose it helps if a player sucks in his role and you need a different approach ;-)

hello there is a huge difference in my opinion: i think one is cursed because he has red lines on his arm and a hand that grabbed him from the dolls, so maybe this one will die?
