・Optimization improvements for rendering to reduce overall VRAM usage
The problem is NOT that the game is using too much vRAM; it is that it is not using enough.

I have like 16GB of vRAM, and most cards have 8GB. This game is using like 2 GB, then seemingly trying to stream the rest from the harddrive, like WTF?

Anyway, I am done. I made it to the second region after beating the blue ninja and his boss. I am just going to pretend that is the end of the game an uninstall.

Yeah you might be the only one with that issue. My 2070 super uses 7/8gb vram. Did you update your drivers?

Mind posting a screen cap of that?

They not clueless. They just lack skill/knowledge/money to fix that. And before that they've lacked knowledge about their own engine. And on top of that they cannot say - hey we've messed up and won't provide any real fix for performance because we don't know how/our engine won't let us/don't care

Obviously not 7/8gb because I just loaded the game up.

You should probably RMA your gpu if it it's only using 2/16gb. Could be faulty memory or something.

edit: Almost 150 hours in and haven't crashed once too.

If is was the GPU's fault, it wouldn't be making full use the vRAM in every other demanding game that I play.

I also have it set to 1080p instead of 1440.

There should be separate setting for texture pool size, at 1440p with DLAA the game doesn't use more than 9 gigs, so even 12 gig cards have a lot of room to spare.

Whilst a lot of environment prop textures visibly load in with a delay every time you look at them. What is the point of running highest texture quality preset if the VRAM pool for them can hold like 10 of those.

Post a screenshot of your settings and vram usage.

I would, but I already uninstalled the game. I still have a video up from the last patch though, where I played around with the settings to get to something playable. That doesn't show anything from this patch though.

PC froze during Chinatown mission earlier. This is the second time the game bricked my PC. Only this game does this problem, and it seems to happen when I leave the game open for so long, AFK time included on the menu.

It's kind of funny, I might actually start taking a collage of it on my smartphone.
Lemme guess ayymd gpu? This game kinda had beef with amd

Nope, RTX 4060, and I completed the first chapter just now. I think that bricking happens when you play beyond (somehow, unless you AFK PC like me) when its played for long hours, 4-6 hours perhaps?

Other than that, the game runs pretty alright along with DLSS tbh.

I am using a 14600K (I upgraded from a 13400F for this game, hoping that would help), and a 4060Ti (16GB).

I had the game lock my pc up once but I waited and it came back. 30+ hours later and haven't encountered it again Aside from that the game has been working pretty fine for me. I remember I did have a bug where the game automatically reset itself to FSR3 and disabled DLSS framegen. I had to restart the game to change it back to DLSS. Haven't had that problem since.
If I play this game for too long (3~4 hours), it will crash with an insufficient VRAM error message. I don't know if they're failing to properly cull unused assets in memory or the 3070's 8GB just isn't cutting it anymore, but under-utilization of VRAM is definitely not a universal issue.

Yeah, that sounds more like a Memory Leak.
