Do not buy this game, if you love Team Ninja
If you love Team Ninja and their games, do not buy this game.

Why?

Rise of the Ronin was made as the new flagship IP for the company and was supposed to be the new standard for the future of Team Ninja games, it had massive funding and the sales were expected to be 5m+ copies sold on PS5 alone. Team Ninja betrayed their core audience and went for the casual market, made the game open-world and added super easy and easy difficulty modes to appeal to casuals. What happened? In the launch week Rise of the Ronin was one of their fastest selling games, but in the long run it had no legs and sold worse than Nioh 1.

If this game was a success, it would have ruined and killed Team Ninja for good. Thank God it was a massive failure. Don't forget that Team Ninja has a tendency to try and sellout (Remember original Ninja Gaiden 3 which was an interactive movie and almost killed the franchise?), but so far, every time they have tried that, the games were failures.

If you love NINJA GAIDEN and NIOH, do not buy this game, this game was supposed to destroy that which you love. It is very important that this game continues to be a financial failure, so that future Team Ninja games remain of high quality and aren't boring open-world garbage with casualized difficulty settings.

Even Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is far superior to this boring open-world slop!

Go buy Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Ninja Gaiden 4 or Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty instead, and in the future Nioh 3.

The only thing old about NG is the camera, which is still set piece. But this is an acquired taste, you can get used to it.

And jank movement? Hell naw, man.
I find all the modern Souls-ish games and action games not as fast and technical as NG.

NG movement is jank when jumping has more precise control than trying to steer your character that rotates on a deadzone too large
I don't notice this seriously, due to the camera angle and how fast you move around.

Knowledgeable players had predicted the game flopping, like a turd in a onsen. Nobody would buy a disgusting attempt by Team Ninja to fill their game with revulsing game mechanics taken from the rotten toilet where Ubisoft and Guerilla last shat.

Obviously, the game released on the same day as the massively superior Dragon's Dogma 2 and failed miserably, killing any further unholy thoughts about a second episode.

It's bad taste to try to partake in the deranged fishing out of crap game design, I hope that they learned their lesson and will stop with such scatophagic behaviour.
Dragon's Dogma 2?
Massively superior?
That is hard drugs you are smoking.
Copy/pasting open world mechanics made by bots for bots (the worst mechanics ever made in the history of open world video games) is literally the death of gaming and They have stooped very low and got their fingers sticky with Ubisoft's crap.

In opposition, actual good open world, such as Elden Ring and Zelda. I won't detail on why it's good, it has been common knowledge for almost a decade, and only Ubidrones can't wrap their agonizing minds around the notion.

Ninja Gaiden is gold though, that dude gotta git gud.

Is there some rule saying every game they release has to follow the same formula?
I love no devs,I just want to play good games ;)
So they added an easy mode and OP can't brag about beating a stupidly difficult video game at noon parties with himself and his mirror ?

Performance is horrible on PS5 unless you make the graphics on low settings. The control scheme is not fun either compared to Ghost of Tsushima. I have a feeling it's going to be the same way on PC.

You are not a true Team Ninja fan.

Wo Long had good combat but everything else about it was very subpar. Especially its level design which was as bad as Nioh 1's, a game released 7 years ago at this point.
And while the combat was good it was also dumbed down compared to Nioh 2.

But worse still was the performance that was terrible and ruined the launch on steam.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is not a great game. Its combat is terrible. I cant match up to any of Team Ninja's games in that regard, and in fact doesnt even come close.

Even Wo Long which overall wasnt a great game either, and with dumbed down combat, still had extremely smooth combat animations which made the boss fights fights feel pretty great. Dragon Dogma 2 on the other hand had combat bad enough it made me quit playing the game, which for me is exceptionally rare. (the only other game that immediately comes to mind where the same happened is Elex)

There's not playing a game for the graphics and then there's ''even then, its graphical standards are too subpar''. People did not care in Nioh. They started caring a bit in Nioh 2. And they already cared a lot more in Wo Long.

Played on PS5, performance mode - clocked around 500 hours before I set it down. Cleared everything, even when midnight had the bug that kept camps respawning. Tl;dr: performance mode looked like absolute garbage. I'm fairly certain even digital foundry called it out.

Why yall lie so damned much?
Dude, they added easy modes? Definitely unsubscribing. I've been a Koei Tecmo fan from day 1, back when they first started up their parent company, Sora Ltd. and I've never seen them cap back to cave for the needs of some whiny PC noobs. Just for the casual market? This isn't the first time they've done this, though. Exclusivity for Sony has rebranded all of their systems at once. If they didn't know that, that's how come. They didn't even want to start at all. At the end of the day, Sony needs this just as bad as Team Ninja and Sora Ltd.

Let's be real: you get it if you're a real fan.
