I think the new one looks a lot better but the lighting was better in the original.

From what I've played so far the LE versions are vastly improved visually.
The addition of HDR alone is a giant improvement.

Op schedule an appointment with your nearest optometrist asap.
If I'm being honest, I do prefer the color grading and contrast more in the original. But that's what ReShade is for. Just about everything else I prefer in the remaster.

Not even remotely. I played through the original games a dozen times and this LE blows them out of the water, especially the first game.
Tons of improvements.

ME 2+3 had less work done on them but they still look like the old versions with a HD texture mod and thats good enough for me.

But ME 1 is no comparsion, this new one looks miles better then the original, even with mods.

I don't get how you can say that the original looks better because it doesn't.
ItsHord May 24, 2021 @ 3:00am
Then simply dont buy the game? How hard is it for you to understand that?

"oLd LoOks BeTtEr"

Good for you. Go play that then instead of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the discussion forum here constantly with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ repetable trash?

I'm not sure I would say ME:LD looks worse but I would stipulate that it's hard to justify spending $60 on those changes. On top of that, the fact that they didn't spend time doing remastering the entire game is beyond the pale in my estimation.

It's more like ME1:LD +ME2/3.

The model and texture of fidelity of Legendary Edition is undoubtedly higher. That being said, the lighting quality across all 3 games in Legendary Edition is drastically different, and is in a few cases unflattering and changes the mood of the environments and scenes in question. Lighting is just as important to improving visual fidelity as improved texture work is. If your lighting doesn't work well, then it can ironically make your textures and models look worse than something that is lower fidelity, but has specific lighting to compliment it better.

Legendary Edition uses a more accurate lighting solution, and accurate does not necessarily mean better, and accurate also does not mean that it faithfully recreates the same conditions of the original game.

There are definitely comparison images I've seen of the original game on PC, and the LE PC release, and the lighting can really make or break whether LE looks good or bad. The first game in particular has this issue where things sometimes just seem way too glossy or oversaturated.

If you pick and choose your examples, yes, the lighting in _some_ areas is more cineastic in the original, but more realistic in LE. Neither is technically better, though.
But the textures, additional scenery (see all those extra trees on the citadel promenade in the background?), new 3d geometry etc especially in me1le but also in me2le (haven't played me3le yet) are a very noticable upgrade in the Legendary edition, a lot of the time even if compared to modded me1.
