Nitrous Brakes Car

I can't figure this out. I played the game a few years ago and everything was working perfectly. I started to run out of disk space so I uninstalled it. Yesterday I reinstalled it and loaded it. I am speeding along as fast as I can. I hit the nitrous (using a PC) . The flames come out the back, but the car actually brakes. It slows down very fast and everyone passes me. It is as if I hit the brakes very hard. Help. I checked the game settings but nothing helps.

my thoughts in there is you're having wrong bindings on brakes and nitrous buttons. game is very sensitive about playing with numpad, so you're should be more careful with binding ones. try bind nitro and brakes on different keys on main keyboard, like nitro is for L ALT and brakes for DOWN_ARROW, or nitro for L SHIFT and brakes for S key. if you're experiencing car U-turns while using nitro, it means your handbrake broken instead of simple break. just bind it to SPACE key or some other on the main keyboard. let me know if you comeback to that game to check it out and if it worked.
