Having problems making sharp turns
Should I use brake (down arrow) or handbrake (space)? Tap or hold? I don't get around these hairpin turns nearly as well as AIs.

slow down a bit more and slide a lot.

Slide by braking or handbraking?
Unless you're trying to throw off the Cops in Interceptor or Most Wanted, you should ideally NEVER have to touch the handbrake.

Instead, just use more brake on turn entry, and sometimes double- or triple-tap the brakes if you're desperate.

Just remind yourself when you go to take any corner that the handling in this game is closer to Burnout: You need to quickly tap the brakes and then keep the throttle pinned to sustain your drifts.

I've been playing this game since 2012. Here's the answer: 98% of the time you just TAP your regular brakes ONCE, and let the car drift through the turn. It's not easy at first, but it's the right way to do it and all good players you see do that. As far as whether you should tap the handbrake - it depends. Sometimes, especially in hyper and exotic series since the cars are fast, for really tight turns (like hair pin curves you are mentioning or tight L shaped turns), tapping brakes isn't sufficient and so you'll need to tap handbrake. Additional tip 1: Use your nos right before and right after you drive through a turn to keep better speed. Tip 2: The longer you can drift, the more nos you would gain.

See you in Seacrest County.

I just want to go on the record that I can run the entirety of Eagle Crest Road in a Hypercar without touching the walls once WITHOUT touching the handbrake. So, no, you really shouldn't need it except for Interceptor and Most Wanted.

Using the handbrake has absolutely nothing to do with the mode and series. It depends on the car, the speed, driving conditions, and what you intend your car to do. Saying it's only needed for interceptor and most wanted makes no sense.

Maybe I just haven't run into the situations that would call for it in the other modes; but as far as I can tell, the handbrake is really only useful if you want to suddenly reverse your direction. The majority of times that's going to be useful are going to be in Interceptor and Most Wanted, and it's not really going to be dependent on car class. Maybe certain specific cars like the Panamera, but most likely not with anything else.

How many hours of gameplay do you have for this game including the original?

Impossible to know for certain. I WILL say that I had completed the Career, both sides, in the 2010 PS3 release, with Gold/Distinction in all Events including all DLCs; a feat which I've also accomplished in this remaster release.

However, I never really got much into the multiplayer, on PS3 or here.

I've got well over 2500+ hours of game play on the original and remaster combined since 2012. Based on what you said I'm pretty sure you don't have more than 100 hours. Whatever answer I gave here is based off my experience in this game including playing battles and along side some of the best players in this game, worldwide.

Bro, appreciate your help here.

I have issues winning gold in nearly all events about driving cop cars to reach the destination without taking penalties. I always end up hitting something and that quickly lead to panic and frustration and it's all downhill from there. Any tips?

Just don't let your minor accidents get to you, basically. Do everything you can to keep yourself settled.

If all else fails, abort the event and go back to something you feel more comfortable doing.

Just try not to rush too much when you think you might hit something. If you see a car/wall coming that you think you might hit it, then release the pedal without using brakes as much as possible. Then when safe, use your nos to get back up to speed. It's also an event where your drifting skills really come into test as you don't want to nick the wall or hit cars. Personally, I restart the event every time I hit something, but that's probably going too far unless you want to be perfect on the event. Additional tip: Try not to overuse your nos as that could also lead to hitting something. Once you get enough nos, use it on straight roads as it helps to maintain better speed for longer time.

Simply put, get good. Got it.

Yeah the game had me rage quit a few times.

Do we cause damage to other cars by slamming into them in normal races? To a point where AI opponents become wrecked? Thinking of this is one way to get rid of them / get ahead.
