My saving profile got deleted somehow.... and I'm pissed off!

So for the past 19hrs I've been playing Turbo Overkill on Murder Machine difficulty and I reached Sunset Synthetica today. Anyway I exit the game (and I went on with my day) and right now I opened it and all my saves are gone... WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥??? I don't know what happened and I am extremely frustrated because as you can imagine MM is extremely HARD! What happened? How is that possible? My saves are synched with the cloud, how they got deleted??? Even when we have blackouts in my area our power outage the game progress (from other games) is not missing... Is there something I can do? This never happened to me before... THREE MISSIONS BEFORE I FINISH THE GAME, C'MON!! I can't even play Episode 3, it says that I must complete the previous two... Please help, I don't want to give the game a negative review but what I'm supposed to do?? If I can't complete my game it just wasted my time and sweat because, as I said, Murder Machine IS HARD... Sorry for the caps, I'm furious...

the profile editor from the original early access version should be back in a future update so you can restore your save

First of all the saves may not be deleted, it might just be the quicksave that failed for whatever reason, I have had an issue with this game where it would put me back at the start (but i had all the upgrades and weapons etc) you just level select the last level you were last on it should still be unlocked if that was the issue:

If the save cloud is corrupt try the following: (to try to load from local backup)

Disable cloud saving in Steam for this game then:

Have a look in:

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Trigger Happy Interactive\Turbo Overkill\Saves

Delete the file titled:

steam_autocloud.vdf

Load the game and see if that works.

Iv'e had few issues with cloud save files going corrupt lately and so didn't take a chance with this game and so I wrote a .bat script to backup up my TurboOverKill saves, I run it after every session.

Same result, I can only play E1M1... On the "Saves" folder though I can see files created one day ago (8/21/2023) but when I open the game I can't access them. I did not only disable cloud save for Turbo but for STEAM in general and again nothing. I do not understand how this is happening. Please, tell me you have more ideas.

Sounds like some form of corruption took place, I have one last thing for you to try.

Backup all the saves you have in the TurboOverkill folder to another location.

Download shadow explorer (it can get files from the shadow files on Windows systems, older versions of files) it's a very simple tool to use, just click on the folder in the app and you will instantly see if there are any older versions of the files in the directory you choose.

If you find any files place them back into the TurboOverkill directory (just delete all files in that directory as you have backed them up elsewhere) and fingers crossed.

Again nothing... the only files that appear are some 2022 files from when I downloaded the demo... Anyway, thank you for your time, don't know what to do next. Maybe I'll just replay the game on Murder Machine in a year, because now I don't have the patience to do it again. It would be easier if this happened to a worse game, because other than that Turbo Overkill is great, it's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up... Again thanks!

No problem, yeh it only works with some games, some developers have saves tied in with integrity checks etc so simply replacing the files with older versions doesn't always work, but maybe as a very last resort you can uninstall the game, when it's re-installed it might also try to re-download the cloudsave, so make sure to thick no cloud saves before first launch, then place the backup saves into the save location.

Failing that maybe just hold onto the files just in case the devs come up with a fix.

I know this might not mean much in your case now but might going forward, I personally disable cloud saves now as they are notorious for becoming corrupt, just save local and backup up regularly.

I just reported the problem at Apogee on twitter and they responded with "Thank you for sharing this with us! Taking this internally and sharing it with the team." Let's hope they'll do something about it because I saw at least one other person reporting the same problem. This is unacceptable situation for a new game. Also, I'm re-installing the game now, see if that helps.

Hey TheTelis really sorry to hear about this.
Have come across a couple of reports of save data corruption, but haven't been able to fully track it down yet, it seems to be quite random. I'm currently re-working how save data is processed and am hoping to roll it out in the next update (along with a profile editor that can be accessed via a cheat, to allow people to fix their profiles if any potential corruption happens in the future).

For the time being, I've made a save profile you can use that should get you back on track. It won't be the exact configuration you had pre-corruption, but with some tweaking of your augment configurations it should feel almost the same. I've set each completed level before Sunset Synthetica to be completed with Murder Machine along with the secrets unlocked. Also given all upgrades for weapons and augments (to that point in the game) along with some Zhen to buy any additional episode 3 augments. I've also set Sunset Synthetica to be completed if you were close to the end of that level and wanted to skip it.

To use this, go to C:/Users/[yourname]/AppData/LocalLow/Trigger Happy Interactive/Turbo Overkill/Saves... find profile0_saveprofile.upd and replace it with the file provided with the link.

You will need to select the level from the Level Select rather than going Continue from the main menu.

This only works if you are using Profile 1.. if you want to replace Profile 2 or Profile 3, you need to rename the file and replace it with:

Really sorry about this! Hopefully the save file will help you get back on track.

This suck dude, it was so frustrating when it happened to me. Unfortunately, I had the files up until a month ago, when I formatted my Hard Drive and everything was deleted. Seriously, a few weeks ago and I could've given you the files. Bad luck.

If you are not playing the game on MM difficulty maybe you can try again, if you play on MM just wait a few months and try again if no one else can help you. Can't believe this bug still exists one and a half years later...

This suck dude, it was so frustrating when it happened to me. Unfortunately, I had the files up until a month ago, when I formatted my Hard Drive and everything was deleted. Seriously, a few weeks ago and I could've given you the files. Bad luck.

Bro I invested so much time on the game. I dont feel like grinding all the levels again. was very close to finishing episode 2. I guess Imma just delete the game for now. :(

Take a few points as a consolation because I understand how to feel. When you are ready, play it again because it's a really fantastic game.
