How do I wall run?!?

You can't miss them, go through the level and you will pick them up.

What level are they on? I'm on the aquatic level and just now hit the point where I can't progress without them. Never got them because I'm guessing they weren't introduced when I played pre-release

They're in level 3, Battle Alley. Also the guy who said they aren't missable is wrong, you're the second person I've seen who missed them and then got stuck.

Even then, seeing the walls should have been a giveaway that you need/get them in that level.

yup, did the same thing, but I got as far as ascension haha. The boots are definitely missable, and even though I took the hint that I should have them by now, just didn't bother.

I missed them too. The previous level is gigantic so I dont know where to even start looking for them.
