Are small animal traps still not working?

I haven't been able to find a definitive answer for this. I saw in the patch notes for the most recent update that the fish traps were fixed and I've been able to confirm that in game, but I haven't seen anything about the small animal traps. I've had three of them out for a few days and caught nothing. Has anyone actually caught anything in a small animal trap yet?

yes. The thing about the small animal traps, is that you need to be in the area for the small animals to spawn, then get trapped. If you leave the area/arent close enough for the game to spawn animals near you, it wont work.

I got one (only one) place where small traps are working correctly and often catch squirrels. The workaround I found is to use flyswater traps instead in the path of deer.

Quick Question, how did you get the Fish Trap to work? I've put the Fish Trap underwater, but I do not seem to get any fish at all. Am I doing it wrong? Maybe the Trap isn't fully submerged? Do I need a fish spawn in the area for this to work?

Find an area where they are running around normally.
Also, winter will reduce the fish/animal spawns a lot (not totally). I could have the traps going off every minute or two during summer, and then goes days with nothing in winter.
