Firepits and its duration (3/09/2023 update)

The fire pit was almost great on release. This new update adds shorter fire duration and it has honestly been great for base visibility. Any light source during the dark makes it impossible to see past 5-10m so them going out quickly or after one sleep cycle is great for that.

If I had to make a complaint about the fire, it's the firewood. I know this update makes fires more reliant on tinder and firewood but firewood is still as useless as it was. After a short period of time, my fire goes out. I have 4 COMPLETELY PERFECT firewood chunks in the pit but it still goes out.

I really think they should make the fire pit eat away at the firewood you put in the pit before it goes out. Even after this patch, I still am going through the 5 stacks of firewood I had at the same rate.

P.S. After saving and reloading, you can't place firewood on a previous stack.

hold on, firewood was functional? 50 days in and i had never managed to lit it on fire. Just ended up making piles around for decoration, and kept feeding fire with leaves.

How does one use firewood, for fire?

Make a reinforced fire with sticks and stones, take firewood, go to the fire, look at it and left click.

Should b a faded line show up like placing wood an the amount of logs virginia an Kelvin have walked into as I'm throwing them around is hilarious. Had to laugh when the still give me the thumbs up 👍

We noticed that last night, if you grab another firewood it gives you the option to add it even though it still shows the 4 firewood chunks, the noticeable difference was the fire itself grew more vibrant/brighter, plus it lasted much longer than a few seconds.

Yeah I did the same but when you add it, it only refreshes ONE of the chunks. It does add time to the fire but it doesn't make it last even one rest/sleep.

Check if you can add a stick to your fire. If so add a second stick. Then you should be able to put in firewood (again).

Check if you can add a stick to your fire. If so add a second stick. Then you should be able to put in firewood (again).

I have enough to do on a night with 20 odd fires im not doing logs and crap.

Update ..............please devs fires are utterly busted lasting 5 mins instead of all evening. And the laser sights dont work when aiming to fire you cant see red beam.

After winter ended, my outside fire has gone back to lasting forever. I think the problem is connected to bases not preventing rain/snow as weather effects should extinguish fires outside.

Honestly, really well put together list on this. I do agree that a lot of people are discussing it but that just goes to show the community is unhappy with the new fire mechanics. In the end it's up to the developers. Although this is the same thing that happened when the game came out and there was a public outcry for the log sled. People talk about it enough, Endnight will eventually hear about it.
