How the hell do you kill Deer?

So its impossible to kill deer in this game. The Bow is useless. does zero damage

they are not smarter then deer

Get yourself a Modern Axe, Katana or simply use a bow. Crossbow also works quite nicely.
Problem is, you encounter them very rarely and at very random moments.

the first thing i attacked in this game was a deer with a thrown spear,
oneshot in the forest
in this game it runs away with the spear in its leg

i shot 7 arrows into the deer and its still running, with 7 arrows sticking out of it like WTF

Craft a spear and hold LMB to aim at it and kill it one shot. They are very easy that way

I caught a deer sleeping, ran up and hit it 3 times with my hatchet before it got up and ran, never to be seen again LOL. The deer in this game are wearing armor.

I just pretend like I'm walking in another direction then I snap 360 turn and sprint at the deer. It breaks their ankles enough to let me break their necks with 4 swings of the axe.

LOL you must be on easy mode. because i can hit them 7 times with my Axe and they just run away like notthing happend

I killed no fewer than 20 deer last night with the bow. On the smaller ones head shots will 1 shot, takes about 4 body shots.. you can literally sprint after them while shooting.

The moose takes 1 headshot if you dink it right between the antlers, 2 shots to the rest of the head and about 6 body shots.

Okay now do this on hardmode and tell me how many head shots and body shots cause it takes way more it seems

Spear does not oneshot. I threw mine at one and it was able to run away with my spear in it and I couldnt catch up.

wait till you cook that deer than a seagull come in a takes your food away. as youre staving you give a side ways expression :/
