What happens at death? (possible spoilers)

I just died after getting ambushed by 3-5 cannibals. My very first death in-game. Its just like in The Forest when you first die you are taken in a cave, something similar to that happened and I was tied up. I got all my stuff back which was right next to me. But what im wondering is, is it really that easy? What happens if you die the second time, then the third and so on.

Edit: Thanks guys for the replies and discussion, I hope this keeps getting attention from more people to figure out more about the death system.

I died in Said cave... Cannibals all around me. Its Game over then. (U can load old save ofc)

I died 3 times before it gave me the game over screen so idk

Except you get put in different locations depending where you are at

i died to one man who outplayed me hard, got tied up, while i looted my stuff back i got backstabbed by someone i didnt see and instadied. lmao i wasnt going to play much more before my friend got it but it was funny. like the enemy was waiting for me to cut myself down just to poke me in the ass

I guess if you die in the caves by the pale cannibals and mutants, instant game over. You die on the surface, you get an extra life to escape the cannibals camp. Die again, game over like the first game. I'm wondering if that extra life resets every time you load a save like on the first game.

That could be it tbh but you also get an extra life in caves. I died over there and got tied up in cave. Died twice on the main land and got brought to 2 different camps. After this it was game over for me.
