Dedicated Servers?
So will we be able to run Steam CMD Dedicated Servers (or another version of CMD) on launch of the game? Or is this going to be a strictly renting private game servers? Myself and like 4 possibly 5 of my friends are all buying the game release day and would like to start playing on our own server, instead of hosting co-op tethering.

if its like the first game it will be peer to peer no tether no cost of renting a server

The Forest had dedicated server bro lol This one will too, I'm asking if they will have the game setup for Steam CMD at launch to do your own private servers instead of renting a server off g-portal or some site like it. Which I'm betting at launch there will be G-Portal servers for rent. I run my own.

how many friends do you have play because i can play with 8 friends free just together

it is not about the amount of players playing, with a dedicated server I dont have to be online for my friends to play. they can play on their own or with others. No owner of the save. The server is the host.

I love it when no one understands the whole idea of a developer creating/releasing proper "Private Dedicated Server Files" to game owners.

Clearly you didn't read the entire thread... Just so it's clear. I run my own dedicated server right now for the forest. This is an actual server I use for The Forest, Ark Survival, and Space Engineers. I do not rent. I save money and do it all myself using Steam CMD. Look it up. Actually runs better than any server I or you would rent for a reasonable price from G-Portal or other server providers. Many games you "pay to rent servers" for offer the files to game owners that have the knowledge and ability to run their own dedicated servers.

The simple answer is: No one knows yet, we will see in february.

It doesn't matter if it is your personal server. They are not required to fix things because you want to run it on any server.

Reading and comprehension seems to be tough these days for some, but yes thank you for understanding. That is what I was asking no idea what others are reading.

I did. It still doesn't change the fact you are trying to play the game in a way that the devs didn't support itself.

I wish the Devs would chime in and just let us know if it will or not. won't hurt no one to just let us know!
I ran The Forest dedicated server for like 3 years straight! was amazing!!!

The amount of gamers in this thread that don't even seem to understand what a dedicated server is, much less why people would want them or that the previous game also had one, is extremely disheartening.

I just don't understand why someone would feel the need to respond to a thread about something they clearly have no knowledge about.

To everyone that's saying the original game didn't have a dedicated server - If you own the previous game, click the "Tools" category in your Steam library and take a look at "The Forest Dedicated Server".

Then go delete your dumb post.

Anyways, hope this new one has dedicated servers as well.
