If I love Nioh2,will I like Nioh1?
Also played wolong on xbox already. I've been told that the combat in Nioh1 is not so good though.

Maybe. Nioh 1 is simpler than Nioh 2. Less mechanics, less quality in bosses. Balance is super busted and endgame so broken, builds basically don't exist.

It is still a great game for first playthrough though.

It still has very solid gameplay. Team Ninja games became more shallow only after Nioh 2, with Ronin being the most simplified game yet.

Got it. wishlist added. I'm just really curious about William's story (and his relationship with Hanzo) so I guess one playthrough would suffice enough:steamhappy:

I liked the story and the level design of nioh1 much more. The combat was kinda different and not as good as nioh2s tho. You could/had to stay in the back of bosses to play effectively. Since hit-stun wasnt really a thing, attacking from the front was always a gamble. Like every boss just hyperarmored through attacks most of the time. Abyss was also very meh compared to nioh2 depths.

Ninjitsu is broken (no feathers in 1) up until about Way of the Demon. Certain sets in Nioh 2 were nerfed but they are really good in 1. You won't have switch glaive, splitstaff or fists. but you will have odachi and tonfas. Living weapon is your friend.

i personally really love the levels in nioh 1 WAY more than nioh 2. the levels in nioh 2 feel very .... boring idk, at least compared to the first one. and a few of them are copies from the 1st one as well.

Nioh 2 is better in everything other than story, but Nioh 1 isn't terrible. If you are finished with 2, haven't played 1, and are looking for something to play, Nioh 1 is probably a safe bet.

unless you are on M/KB. The first 1 was awful on it, this 1 is good
I like Nioh 1 much better.. the burst mechanic feels like TOO much mechanics for me.. Its too many buttons to remember now.. They play exactly the same otherwise.. Living Weapon was better imo

Nah, living weapon was too strong. It could basically become god mode.
Absolutely, new maps and levels along with bosses and get to see how it originated. I say if your a Nioh fan and have that itch then Nioh 1 will scratch that easily.

nioh 1 has a lot more unfair stuff than nioh 2 and yes combat is different, you can build to one shot things if you like

Team Ninja really didn't intend for living weapon to be god mode. They have a bad habit of not seeing how game breaking some of the mechanics they put in can be. That's why way og the demon onward does everything it can to screw you over even having it to where you get the amrita knocked out if the gage even if it's full and having red enemies with 20 different buffs.
Personally for me I do not enjoy Nioh 1. The levels and game design just piss me off too much. It was made when every company was ripping off DS1-dickish level traps but up to 11. It's just annoying to play. The 2nd game is miles better in everything.
Also saying maybe.

It's mechanically less diverse, plus you play as a fixed character for a long while until you can unlock character model swaps later on. The story is also less engaging, albeit both game's have some forgettable stories. Otherwise, the looter slasher element to gear customization and improvements is still there, as is the combat/stance customization (though with less options, since Nioh 2 carries over most of the stuff from Nioh 1's combat but adds more), and there's less weapon types. It's like starting with Dark Souls 3+DLC then going back to vanilla Dark Souls 1, albeit with less of an impact on visuals degredation/quality.
