Omnyo switchglaive build set
Good evening,

Currently I am using a Onmyo switchglaive build and wearing a Divine Omnyo Warrior Set + Black Fox Mask.

I have tempered/transferred untouched omnyo/omnyo magic power on all my armor and have Defense bonus (Magic) and Elemental damage on my accessories (Apart from the Divination board which can't roll untouched).

The Onmyo I currently use are:
Lightning talisman
Thunderstorm Shot
Explosive Shot
Rejuvenation Talisman
Water Familiar Talisman
Steel
Tiger-Running scroll (Sometimes I switch to Carnage)

Guardian Spirits are:
1. Kuzunoha the fox
2. Tengen Kujaku

Soul Cores are:
Ippon-Datara
Kasha
Ryomen Sukuna

Clan: Akechi

I have reached Way of the Wise and doing pretty well. The question is, since I'm trying to gear up with Ethereal items, what set should I focus on?

I am thinking one or a mix of these:
Genmei Omnyo
Grace of Tsukoyomi
Omnyo Warrior
Honor in Harmony

What would you suggest? Any other advice? Thank you in advance.

Tsukoyomi + a few pieces of Genmei would probably be the most functional of those. Just make sure you have one of your accessories has '-1 set reauirements' in one of it's slots.
You've got a way to go still, but I recommend starting to collect the pieces for this build by Ucro: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dyjusQwKk5Bi3Sw42lDmCUts6goQRGuLoKer96tMii0/edit

You'll need to reach Depths 6 to start receiving Grace of Oyamatsumi on equipment, but can at least start collecting the other gear. I just built it myself and can report it's very effective for survival and regenerating used Onmyo magic items. It does require you to sacrifice a melee weapon slot to complete the Onmyo Austerity+ set (you must equip an Odachi with Onmyo Austerity+), but in my opinion it's worth it.

You may try this build with accessory -1 req for set
Omoikane's Grace (6 pieces). Jutsu means it affects both magic/ninjutsu
Life +434
Elemental Damage +15.0%
Jutsu Power +60
Jutsu Item Damage +20.0%
Jutsu Power +90
Untouched Jutsu +40.0%

Grace of Tsukoyomi (5 pieces)
Life +358
Reduced Defense (Onmyo Magic Hit)
Onmyo Magic Power +70
Onmyo Magic Damage (Unscathed) +15.0%
Untouched Onmyo Magic +15.0%

I'm not sure about stacking Untouched Jutsu and Onmyo, but this could give you lot of extra uses for magic

Someone else who does the math on these things mentioned that the Untouched Onmyo Magic doesn't stack from the Set and the Accessory Slots. I was reading the Forums to find out when I switched to wanting Omoikane's Grace and Onmyo Austerity + a couple of weeks ago. Still hunting down the Gauntlets and Greaves from Austerity +, which is only driving me batty because I got rid of so many of them previously. Always the way, but gives us something to do playing solo.

IIRC untouched jutsu and untouched onmyo/ninjutsu don't actually add together. It turns around and uses the untouched jutsu as a multiplication modifier on top of your untouched onmyo/ninjutsu. Which means it can potentially end up LOWER than just using untouched jutsu, which on it's own acts as a flat 40%.

I'm honestly confused about it now. Will hunt down more references from folks who can be trusted with math and stats as sadly for me, they are anathema to my being. I can sometimes be trusted regarding player experience, people and life.

If the IIRC is an IPIRC - I'm Positive I Recall, let me know. Must game before more referencing.

Since Untouched Jutsu translates to Untouched Omnyo/Ninjutsu it may be added in those stats on the character page with all the attributes listed? However I guess it shows as Untouched Jutsu separately.

What does multiplication means? Lest take an example. I have 50% of untouched ninjutsu, and 40 untouched jutsu, so is that calculation is correct?
0.5 + 0.5*0.4 = 0.5 + 0.2= 0.7 = 70%?

0.5 + 0.5*0.4 = 0.5 + 0.2= 0.7 = 70%?
I don't fully understand why you would use THAT sort of equation ot get there. It seems kind of incomplete.
A more easy to follow equation would be as such:
0.5 x 1.40 = 0.7
So, if untouched ninjutsu or untouched onmyo is at 50%, then untouched jutsu would act as an additional 40% of that value, added on top.

If I had to guess at WHY the game handles it this way, as a multiplier rather than a simple additive, I'd say it's for balance purposes.

I'm about 95% positive.

But in this case if I have untouched onmyo = 0 it would be 40% instead of this 0*1.4? And if I have 10% it would be 0.1*1.4=0.14?

Theoretically, yes.
It is exceedingly hard to do concrete testing in this game. This would not be the first time that a value switches from additive to multiplicative if there is an existing value in this game.

As I said before, the most likely reason for that being a thing is as an attempt to make things better balanced without rendering more limited availability effects totally useless.

Thanks for all the replies! For starters I'll gear up for Grace of Tsukoyomi. Is there any specific non-set armor that has advantages for an omnyo build? Also, should I prefer medium or light armor?

Btw graces add an extra layer of RNG.... I hope it doesn't reach Diablo levels.

Ferryman armor has lifedrain water attack on each piece.
Onmyo Hunting armor has onymo magic power on each piece.
The two fox masks (black and white) have lifedrain / damage bonus scaling with your onymo magic.
There are a bunch of other helmets that work goodish with magic, but they're mostly yokai ability related.

Nooooooooo....

By the way, only one piece of Tsukoyomi (Fists) has dropped for me until now. And that was a week ago. Wth? o.O

If I wasn't familiar with RNG, I'd say that the game is biased against Onmyo.

Ethereal graces, when in underworld, only drop on specific floors. Theres a post on reddit explaining it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Nioh/comments/khdy8f/underworld_graces_locked_to_specific_floors/
Theres also another chart floating around that actually has the floor numbers on each grace.

Aside from that:
Desire Sensor being Desire Sensor.

I spent two weeks trying to get a usable basic sword with owatatsumi for the character I'm currently running through depths with. Pretty much the entirety of standard underworld without a basic sword with the correct grace. The only one that dropped that entire time had a built-in element of the incorrect type.
