Luckily if your also interested in Dragons Dogma 2 it releases on the same day so at least PC players won't have to choose between that and RotR lol.
yeah at least we get Dragon Dogma and Wu Kong Legend
What do you mean? There latest games were great! Strangers Of paradise somehow had more depth and RPG mechanics then the mainline FF game, which was more shallow DMC wannabe, and Wo Long started out rough but is in a good state now after all of the patches and DLCs.
I would argue that the best thing Team Ninja has to prove with RoTR is performance and optimization, because every TN game on PC released with pretty bad optimization issues (yes even Nioh 1 and Nioh 2). If they are having optimization issues in games that are mission based and only involve small levels, how well will they be able to optimize their first fully open world game? Even the little gameplay we have seen look a bit inconsistent with frame-rate (would not be surprised if PS5 is lock at 30fps), and if I'm being honest the visuals are only OK as they have the same ascetic as there recent games.
Don't get me wrong I'm still excited for it when and if it comes to PC) and I know the gameplay will be great, but the performance and visuals are what I'm more concerned about.
It's a shame about Rise of Ronin though. I think it'll get a PC release later on. But probably a year later like how Strangers of Paradise was released on PC.
EDIT: looked up what japan studio actually made..... rip, they made some very memorable games. Looks like there wont be a legaia ever again either
Sony is only publishing the game on PlayStation like the Nioh games. Rise of the Ronin is owned by Koei Tecmo
I kind of agree.
Its weird because the way TN does DLC is like a double edged sword. On one side you have the PC players (before SoP) who were treated with complete editions of their games with all DLC (also at a good price). On the other side console players who are use to getting the base version of TN games on release and are also use to coming back after every big DLC/update.
I have learned to enjoy both sides, as I like the feeling of coming back to a game with a big content update, new weapons, playstyles,...etc, but I also like "complete" experiences where all of the content for the game is in your hands and you can interact with it at your own pace.
Imo this is why the PC players soured on SoP and Wo Long when compared to Nioh1-2, because all they have known from TN was HUGE content rich Action RPGs, that had like 4 NG+ difficulties, crazy build depth, replayablility, and endless endgame content to grind.
I don't buy the argument of people disliking SoP and Wo Long because of lack of combat depth compared to Nioh 2 (some may feel this way but not all). Why? Well because I would argue SoP in many ways is just as deep or even deeper then Nioh 2, especially in terms of RPG mechanics, stats, builds and while Wo Long is the simplest of the 3, it still has depth of its own to master compared to the other games, especially after the DLC2 changed a lot of the spirit mechanics.
I've said this before but if SoP and Wo Long both released the same as Nioh 1-2 did (complete editions) they would have been much better received. At the end of the day I still believe TN are the king of DLC (and the way they enhance their games) as each game they have produced has evolved tremendously after all of the DLC was released.
