ethereal gear
I've heard a lot about ethereal gear and wanna know when exactly do you unlock it? I just recently unlocked Dream of the Demon and my highest weapon is level 170 (+5). I'm not too anxious to get some but I wanna know when to expect it.

IIRC, You unlock Divine after beating NG+, and Ethereal Gear after beating NG++. Dream of the Wise, is when you can really start expecting it.

yeah it gets quite confusing for some people when others throw around terms like 'NG++++++' which is never mentioned in the game

Yeah it's just Dark Souls code being used in wrong context, just call these difficulties "Dream of the..." and you are good to go.

NG+s are not exclusive to Dark Souls, and they are much easier to understand because they carry over between all games.

NG = New Game, aka this is the first playthrough, and when you choose "new game" from the start menu

NG+ = New Game Plus, second playthrough with your stuff still carried over, lots of RPGs have this

NG++ = this is your 3rd playthrough, aka your original NG playthrough plus 2 more (++)

NG+++ = 4th playthrough

etc.

Saying NG+++ is easier than trying to remember demon, wise, nioh, etc. and what order they go in.

So if Dream of the Demon is the third playthrough, it is NG++.

what's easier for you might not be easier for others, this game uses the terminology 'dream of' and that is also what I'm going to use when talking about this game

The game's all about customization and doing things your own way, so you say it how you want, and I'll say it how I want, and we can all be happy.
