I am very happy with Wemod and it make the game easier and more enjoyable for me.
No more dying in 2 hits. The game can be a lot more forgiving if you want it to be.
The game isn't "hard" per se, it's just got a rhythm that you need to learn along with all your chose weapon's skills. It definitely gets easier as you play.
??? Honda clan paired with Wild Boar Crested Helmet and Protection Talisman is far superior.

Dude some 50 yr olds grew up in early coin op arcades and played the first consoles. Many games were a lot harder and less forgiving then. There are 50 year old pilots, martial artists, musicians, etc. This game isn't that hard especially after you get the ball rolling. A little synergy goes a long way even without going meta.
At the start of the game just kill a bunch of revenants to get some gear and a few levels under your belt. You can skip the first boss if you are super green too, the game even tells you so.
Some classes/builds are more glass cannon than others so if you have survivability issues you might consider some of the other ones suggested.
Like others have said, different weapons have different rhythms. Ki management is big so you have to get a feel for how much each attack uses, how much you'll have left to dodge/roll. A HUGE part of this game is the ki pulse. If you aren't key pulsing at the right time you aren't getting your ki back and you have to wait for the ki meter to crawl back up. Not ki pulsing correctly can also can leave you defenseless or unable to block or roll again after blocking the first attack. Conversely when you ki pulse properly you can find yourself able to chain more attacks. Get used to swapping to low stance after ki pulsing because you can block more for less ki in low stance, you have more dodge mobility, and you can still get a few jabs in low stance attacks to interrupt or finish the monster off even if you don't have a lot of ki left for some reason. Also get used to swapping stances every time you do a key pulse instead of pulsing on the same stance. This will give you more key pulse gains per pulse (samurai skills you can get by spending points on Flux and Flux II). When you get good at swapping stances you can bounce back and forth pretty quickly like a drum roll.
When you get good enough, vs any 1 on 1 if you wanted to play mayweather mode for some reason you should be able to avoid 99% of the attacks if you want to unless it's a boss in a different realm hampering your ki regen or it has some really hard to avoid ranged attack. It's a matter of learning every monster's attack patterns by heart and learning your own moves and avoidance - and then doing the dance. At that point you can choose when to engage and you have a lot more ability to evade, recoup your health and ki before trading blows again if you get in trouble. You can still get surprised by random attack patterns and timing clashes etc though but that's part of the fun of the game.
Summoning helpers/AI makes the game super easy mode already like others have said. You can let the helper tank (get aggro) for you and then get free attacks in yourself plus his attacks. They also help split up multiple attackers so you can take one out early. So that is a lot easier but if you are having trouble and want to practice your ki pulses and weapon timing and get some weapon skills from leveling I'd go that route over cheating.
If you cheat you are probably avoiding learning some of the key mechanics of the game that make the combat so excellent in this game. A lot of the gear and skill effects also augment these mechanics so you really are screwing yourself in the end even if you just alter your defense, etc. The game gets easier as your personal player skills increase and as you get more synergy going in your stuff (complimentary weapon, armor, accessory, soul core, skill effects).
That build isn't going to help you much with multi hit attacks, especially if you lack the toughness. And Protection Charms are limited. Please stop misinforming OP, he should absolutely not play like that if he's already struggling with the game an doesn't know what he's doing. And if he'd play such a crutch build he wouldn't get better at the game anyhow.
