Most weapons get better mileage out of mixing normal attacks with a grapple, and there are quite a few situations where a grapple is the better choice at that moment.
Stabbing on floor animation = Final Blow
Most Yokai do not have a Final Blow state. I feel pretty certain at least all yokai bosses definitely don't. So just in that regard, grapple tends to be more useful.
But even still, I tend to prefer final blow because of the SotC loop I like to do with dual swords against human enemies.
The Yokai Execution act, when you stab the Yokais with your Tanto/Sou-Katana; is it counted as Final Blow or Grapple? Or, maybe neither?
I always had this wonder since release and Google search didn't gave me definite answer. I assume it's Grapple but I am not sure. Does anyone knows this?
I've always seen the Sohayamaru shard more as a hilt and shard, I think most people refer to it as just a dagger. First time I see someone refer to it as a Tanto, interesting
Also 'Tanto' = 'Japanese styled dagger'
