Question About Reckless Slice in the Samurai Skill Tree.
Reckless Slice: Increases the damage dealt by certain active skills by 10%. In exchange, you will not be able to perform a Ki Pulse.

Seems like a very bad trade off if you play very aggresive. Am I missing something here, because the 10% increase in damage in "certain active skills" does not seem worth losing the ability to Ki Pulse.

Would someone help me out with why I would want this.

It might work for long-channeled attacks (think for example Splitstaff's Dragon Dance, which also boosts your attack power if you deplete your ki with it) or parries, stuff you usually don't do mid-combo and don't need to ki pulse out of.

The inability to ki pulse effect of* Reckless Slice will affect just that active skill, but not the rest of your move set for that weapon.

Some active skills may not offer opportunities to ki pulse, such as the spear's Fatal Thrust or Wild Spear.

There are some attacks which you're not able to perform a ki pulse. This is pretty much free damage for those skills.

it has its own uses for specific situations and it depends on your playstyle. i use it on my splitstaff mid stance strong atk ending skill.

Iai-Quickdraw is a good one to use this with, and sword of meditation. If you are using Sacred Water or Barrier Talismans, you shouldn't really be having any issues at all

Keep in mind that all skill modifiers incur a ki cost penalty (in the form of a multiplier and except the one that explicitly exists to lower ki cost). It's not entirely free damage if you haven't the ki to use it.

You can combo Iai into another Iai with Quickdraw III, so that's not really a good idea.

For your main damage dealers, you should be using the active skill bonuses from stats i.e "damage boost: courage" on them because the % bonus is better. Reckless slice is alright to round out the rest of your skills after using all the stat bonus ones. Like if you have any extra charge moves or skills that don't let you ki pulse in the first place

it's situational

This also has a very unique interaction with Corruption: if an enemy is corrupted you steal ki. In most cases it's just added to the ki pulse of the attack but if you cannot ki pulse it is added straight to your ki bar. Not a super useful combination until you have truly absurd ki consumption reduciton, though.
