Tip for the snake boss. When she shoves her snake arms into the ground run towards her and get 3 to 4 free hits. when she enters the yokai realm kill her snake arms for bonus damage and use your burst counter when she does her slither slither. using these methods should help. Also if you have Magic use Purifcation buff on your weapon and if you can life steal tailsmens on her. Also her snake arms when killed can drop health items and antidotes.

yeah.. F that snake :)
As mr Slinky points out, beat it when the arms are in the ground.
Take your time.
(I still can't work out the counter for when it is coming at me)
For some reason i can't summon human helpers to help me (but i can help others? poop)
Torii shine some humans to help. But please don't be a jerk, at least get the second shine up before you do that.
I've been summoned a bunch of times to help with that boss and most of the time it is from the start of the map. blah :)

That Snake boss is pretty tame in retail compare to the Alpha and Beta test, in these test it's a real pain in the a$$.

Yep. That snake sucks. Yesterday I was stucked there for hours. My best advice is that you learn well the attack patterns and to avoid them. Once you do that you will be able to defeat it, but yeah its really hard

That's known as balancing. The original design of nioh was to make the hardest game on the market for the soul's type fans. However, in testing no one could get by the first boss, Onyroki, so they toned it down. They then let the players play the toned down versions in the alpha/beta and it was still too hard, so it was toned down yet again.

Hard doesn't always equate to fun, but challenging is fun and that is what the devs strive for. They are always and have always been balancing nioh 2 since the day it came out and I for one am SO GLAD the snake yokai attack was toned down dramatically from the launch, because it was rediculously powerful.

Haven't really had a problem with the snake myself but one time I joined as a visitor and the damn thing kept grappling me, like five times in a row lol. Seems hit or miss.

Another time I joined and someone kept shooting it in the head with a hand cannon which seemed to be stunlocking it quite effectively, so maybe try that? Bow, musket or hand cannon to the shiny face, it's surely gotta do something good to it.

Not figured out a mega efficient way of messing with it though. Just the usual stuff of chugging a sacred water when the dark mode comes up and then activating Yokai Shift if it's available, and using overhead attacks to cut the smaller snakes when the opportunity presents itself.

The grapple is really annoying. I think it's unblockable. You can avoid it by standing exactly in-between them, but I'm not sure how tight it is. One thing you can do to counter the tunnel snakes (heh) is to dodge backwards and have them emerge in front of you. Makes them easy to hit. At the end of the day, it all comes down to practice though, so just keep trying.

You can dodge through the grapple.

Ok, I'm the only one that actually first tried? I mean, I have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of hours in Nioh 1, but still... I don't understand what's so hard. His attacks are kinda slow.

EDIT: Also, to people have issues, try to be more aggressive, stick close to it and attack the arms\little snakes.

Also, remove the poison pool. Make the fight WAY easier.

Same also first tried. If they struggle so much just wait till they get to the human bosses. They dont leave you time to breathe

Yeah, the dev make it right. IIRC, that Snake boss( Yatsu no Kami) in Alpha test is the boss kick my a$$ the most in my whole gaming life.

Yes, like other said, clear the poison pool in the level so the boss area is clean too, that the biggest/easiest help.

amathy Feb 7, 2021 @ 10:24am
it took me 10 tries to kill the snake boss the 1st time without the poison pools and 3 tries to kill it the 2nd time with the poison pools, it's really not that bad
Darksidewalker Feb 7, 2021 @ 10:28am
Took me 1 try ... bursted it with yokai-form. just do all statues before. GG.
hualahn Feb 7, 2021 @ 10:30am
Does destroying the 4 snake statues alter anything in bossfight?. I destroyed them 1st run so i cant tell a difference. And the boss i took down with a real world helper - easy ;)
In Nioh 1 there was that big boss in the water, right? Where, if you destroy 1st some pillars the boss fight was easier. Or do i remember that wrong?
