As mr Slinky points out, beat it when the arms are in the ground.
Take your time.
(I still can't work out the counter for when it is coming at me)
For some reason i can't summon human helpers to help me (but i can help others? poop)
Torii shine some humans to help. But please don't be a jerk, at least get the second shine up before you do that.
I've been summoned a bunch of times to help with that boss and most of the time it is from the start of the map. blah :)
That's known as balancing. The original design of nioh was to make the hardest game on the market for the soul's type fans. However, in testing no one could get by the first boss, Onyroki, so they toned it down. They then let the players play the toned down versions in the alpha/beta and it was still too hard, so it was toned down yet again.
Hard doesn't always equate to fun, but challenging is fun and that is what the devs strive for. They are always and have always been balancing nioh 2 since the day it came out and I for one am SO GLAD the snake yokai attack was toned down dramatically from the launch, because it was rediculously powerful.
Another time I joined and someone kept shooting it in the head with a hand cannon which seemed to be stunlocking it quite effectively, so maybe try that? Bow, musket or hand cannon to the shiny face, it's surely gotta do something good to it.
Not figured out a mega efficient way of messing with it though. Just the usual stuff of chugging a sacred water when the dark mode comes up and then activating Yokai Shift if it's available, and using overhead attacks to cut the smaller snakes when the opportunity presents itself.
You can dodge through the grapple.
EDIT: Also, to people have issues, try to be more aggressive, stick close to it and attack the arms\little snakes.
Also, remove the poison pool. Make the fight WAY easier.
Same also first tried. If they struggle so much just wait till they get to the human bosses. They dont leave you time to breathe
Yes, like other said, clear the poison pool in the level so the boss area is clean too, that the biggest/easiest help.
In Nioh 1 there was that big boss in the water, right? Where, if you destroy 1st some pillars the boss fight was easier. Or do i remember that wrong?
