Boss skill drop rate is ABSURDLY low

Srsly.

I'm grinding Azai Nagamasa for his sword skill true and through at yaksha returns mission with full luck equipment, kodama hunter blessing, spells and itokuri and STILL can't drop it after 4 hours of constant grind. I've kicked his butt around 50-60 times already.

WHY in the god name did they tought this would be a good idea to set drop rate so low... this is not online pvp game or anything like that so RNG don't have to be so bad in this game

I've gotten the Brute and Feral shift skill from a DLC boss in two consecutive runs of a multi-enemy quest with said DLC boss at the end but not the Phantom one after so many clears. Guess which spirit type I'm using... I've stopped doing it as it's the most boring mission and it's not even that great of a skill, I'm just mad that I got the two other skills I will never use.

Not sure on which difficulty you are, but I advice against farming skills until you can can go to lower difficulties and stomp them in there: there is no difference between fighting a low level boss against a higher level one, the drop rate for skills is the same no matter what.
I dfon't know if more luck will help with the cause.

tbh this fight isn't really hard. I can kill him pretty easily in around 3-4 mins but the fact that i need to waste time on this mission instead doing dlc or ng+ further if i want skill is irritating me

Yeah, I've had to do ~70 Yoshitsunes to get his skills.

Honestly, if they didn't drop until 80 or so, I'd use Cheat Engine for sure. Otherwise I'd start hating the game so much I wouldn't want to play anymore anyways.

You can have item drop at more than 40% from all your armors, bow , soul core , spirits and even weapon. You usually will get something every 5 battles. As suggested go to a higher ng and farm only samurai and you will get easily. Having said this i dont know what luck plays a role but i am almost sure kodoma blessing doesnt count though i nay be wrong for both. for safer farming just keep your item drop at above 40 % and farming is very easy.

Edit: this counts only for boss skills and smithing text.

That's why I'd advice to just skip them until you can kill them later in about 30 seconds. To be honest though, once you unlock the underworld you are bound to re-fight most bosses, and on there I gotten many skills I didn't even know about. XD

Does item drop actually affects smithing texts and bosses skills? I've read so much debate about this matter on gamefaqs board.

Also, instead of redoing an entire mission, just quit from the menu after beating the boss. Don't procede if you don't have your text or skill, just re-load (many many time, grew tired of it on Ps4)
Also, I also heard that the Kodama (craft) + many luck increase will be handy

If farming skills or smithing text is your goal, before fighting the boss change kodama blessing to hunter blessing, wear kodama hat and use kodama soul core (if you have one). If the boss didn't drop what you need just choose to quit to menu and load the save game.

100+ runs for a single skill is completely normal. Drags down the rating of the whole game.

yes almost sure did the same thing in nioh1 and also successfully did in nioh2 though i have still not touched abyss. sometimes got smithing text and boss skill in the same fight.if you do not believe me you can check it out. The debates from nioh1 are:
1. how much luck plays a role, does it counter ur item drop rate
2. does playing in ng+ has a higher chance of item drop than in samurai.
3. does kodoma blessing for material count for item drop.

1. luck, if anything, lowers your chance of finding the skill (on DotStrong onward) because it will cause divines to drop while the skill is epic, same goes for ochoko cup drop buffs
2. NG cycle has absolutely no effect on drops and generally you should farm DotSamurai unless you want amrita
3. nobody knows, but I found all my skills without it

Nah it's not that I don't believe you, it's just that I don't know how the luck mechanic works, from what I've heard it works a la diablo, in which luck affects the rarity of a gear, but nothing esle: just yesterday on reddit I discovered that luck doesn't even affect starred special effects, which means that those are purely rng.

1) nope, luck raise drop rate for texts
2) i didnt find any data for it, nobody knows AFAIK
3) kodama blessing counts
