Proficienty cap?

So I had read some where that the cap for proficiency was 999,999 but it seems to be 500,000. Is there some point where you can go beyond 500k? Is 31 skill points the maximum amount you can have for a weapon?

You get higher caps unlocked as you progress further in the game. Technically speaking, the most 'efficient' way to do thins is to use multiple weapons so that you are still earning points once you've capped one weapon.

The 999,999 proficiency cap is actually for Nioh 1.

Nioh 2 on the other hand has several proficiency caps and they raise with each NG+ difficulty. The maximum proficiency level for weapons is level 60 which requires 11 million and is unlocked in Dream Of The Nioh.

Or to be a bit more 'relative'with that info, you are given enough skill points to fill the tree entirely, at end-game. I don't THINK there are any that would require more skill points than that to unlock all the skills and the 3-stage bonuses.
