sekiro shadows die twice?

I played Sekiro and hated almost every minute of it because it was way too hard for me but liked Souls a lot. Is this somewhere in the middle or still super challenging?

first of all, id never use burst counter nor any other parry move, so that bridge knight in sekiro was actually challenging for me

in sekiro excluding the sword saint there is a trick to almost every bossfight, so in pure theory nioh 2 is harder but since you wont know the tricks on the first attempt unless "cheating" with a guide , i found sekiro to be the harder game on first playthrough.

Wouldn't really compare the 2, but I struggled more when learning to play Nioh 1, then I did with Sekiro

Well if this game is just as hard as Sekiro then i won't buy it. I prefer the fun gameplay of souls rather than the the misery of these games haha

Nioh tales some learning but in the end I feel more satisfied killing stuff in Nioh, trying to get cool kills using skills (mostly for fotomode reasons), unlike Dark Souls which has bland, simple and boring combat.

The reason I think Sekiro is easier is because of it's repetitiveness, whether you'r fighting a huge monkey or a skinny lady, it dorsn't feel different imo.

But I can see why some people would say Sekiro is harder.

Hmm, thanks for the response. I'll consider buying the game. It does look fun in the trailers.

For me personally Sekiro is harder because you don't have gear and all your power comes from your skills. In Nioh 2 you can boost yourself with good gear and stats.

He is there to scare you. You don't have to and shouldn't kill him on your first time there.

Even when I played again on PC from zero (finished the game on PS4 a few months ago) I couldn't kill him within a few deaths so I skipped him too.

hmm, game doesn't feel fun so far anyways. At least in souls i felt i knew how to play and what i was doing, a better feeling of satisfaction. In this game there are far too many controls and stuff to learn...

It's has a lot more tools to use than DS series and a lot more intricacies to learn - ki pulsing, burst counters, yokai abilities, blocking vs dodging and so on. This makes it have a steeper learning curve than DS.

Once you start learning how to use these tools, however, it becomes a lot more involved than DS and allows you to pull off some cool tricks that you can't do in other soulslikes. Once you start gittin somewhat gud, game becomes easier than the DS series, but keep in mind that the first 3 missions are probably the hardest in the game to get through for a new player.

Sekiro is more pattern learning and react and play the right way. Even tho there are different ways and also some cheese moves like some overpowered tools or skills.

In regard of pattern learning sekiro is harder i would say.

In nioh everything hits hard but aside from some bosses i had no Problem learning the moveset quite quick.

But even when you go solo and mostly melee i would say nioh is easier.

Also you have many different ways and skills / builds to approach the game.

Talking about one first run in both games.

Both games are great in their own way.

In my opinion while Nioh 2 is infinitely more complex mechanically-wise, Sekiro is by far the harder game.
I still have to play a game harder than Sekiro (outside money-leeching arcade games).

Nioh 2 has some pretty brutal boss fights that will need a solid few attempts. Thankfully, Nioh 2 also gives you multiple outs compared to Sekiro, which boiled down to its sole means of advancement being "Git gud."

It is a lot closer to Dark Souls in that aspect, as it is way more of an action RPG, than an action adventure that Sekiro is. You have meaningful character progression and heap and a dozen options to attempt various challenging fights.

Also, this!

The start of both Nioh 1 and 2 are absolutely brutal due to the limited options you have available at that time. A bit further down and with more abilities at your behest, you have a LOT more outs of any given situation!

And it is indeed mechanically a lot more intricate than Dark Souls, however, aside from the added complexity it also comes with a ton of added depth! It is infinitely more rewarding than Dark Souls, as your character progression in abilities, attributes and gear feel way, way more impactful compared to Dark Souls.
