I'm just asking why ppl do it. Just curious. It just doesnt seem fun to me. Kinda makes the game pointlessly easy.
Doesnt mean it cant be fun for other.
Random encounters is basically your Souls easy way out when you're stuck or don't feel like doing a particularly difficult section (or a good farming option for phantoms)
*looks at 4k+ damage skelly lance stab instakill*
Also big bosses are especially vulnerable in coop. When 3 people start to spam soul cores and Onmyo/Ninjutsu, they get stunlocked easly. Fast human-like bosses are not so easy.
But then again I always did not feel good, because especially if you are new to game, people might get angry at you. Never really saw negative reaction, but guess some might have get headache of me, because I did not know much about the game back to that time, lol.
I beat the game with three different characters on PS4 in the last 6 months, but I didn't get the DLC on there, nor do I want to pay to play online. Breezing through the main game on my fourth character, this time on PC with the DLC included and free to play online, is gonna get me to the DLC faster.
Ultra hardcore difficulty was never a requirement for making a good Soulslike game. Sometimes you just want to relax with a very casual speedrun. It's not like the existence of co-op takes away anything from the experience of people who don't want to use it themselves. You're welcome to do a level 1 playthrough, no armor, no weapons, using a Guitar Hero controller if you so choose. I'm sure somebody somewhere would be impressed to see it.
I just really enjoyed going in with random people, hopefully new players, and goofing around, helping them kill stuff and clear bosses, transforming into a Kodama, being silly with emotes, and finally blowing myself up with the big bomb ninjutsu before leaving when its all done
I havent bothered with co-op in Nioh 2, I generally stay away from multiplayer unless its with actual friends. I never did any co-op in Dark Souls, and tried not to summon players for anything as well. I enjoy the single player experience too much, but there is potential for some silly fun if you want to have it
I helped out one or two evenings in DS3 just for fun and it was okay. But on the other hand i never felt the need to do it again.
If you finished the game and after that have fun just derping around with a friend there is nothing wrong about that.
But let you beeing carried tru the game and coop on bosses fast. I just thing you cheat yourself from getting a good game experience.
I asked on reddit elden ring about offline mode (first run no coop no Message) and ppl generally agreed that thats how a first run should be for them.
You've already answered your own question with:
Fun is subjective, what you find fun is not the same what other person finds fun, someone might have fun while cheating and having infinite HP, someone else might have fun busting their ass and trying to beat this game with no armor or weapons, who cares?
But failing and having difficulties and overcome them is part of these games imo. 🤗
