Correspondence between OU and Epic is confidential, due to express policy change and direct permission from our Epic liaison we can host the installer which mirrors to very specific .iso's on archive.org now though.
It's a good step in the right direction however, and i prefer this over it needing to open EGL to play Unreal.

Not trying to be rude, just pointing out
Sure, and that's definitely worth pointing out, but in all those cases, it was a grey area legally. With full permission from Epic, going off of OldUnreal's existing stance as curators of the definitive modern patch, it puts the game in a much more stable position.
Also I just plain hadn't seen a thread about it, and figured making one would be better than someone needing to reply one-by-one to every "does anyone have a key" thread that pops up.
so there is no proof = religion / propaganda
"There's no statement from Epic's side"
There are no further questions, Your Honor.
And following the link in the first reply of the same tweet:
If you're looking for a direct quote from Epic themselves, they're the same people who never even hosted the games on their own storefront to begin with, I think it's safe to say we'll never hear anything from them.
So you want me to believe that permission from Epic exists but at the same time we'll never hear any direct quote from Epic.
Fine, I also can say the same or whatever: I have confidential permission from Epic to do whatever I want with their games.
Do not bother to reply any other nonsense. Unsuscribing from this topic. You are reported and blocked.
This requires the bare minimum research you could have done to verify this.

Not only do we at OldUnreal (which is a website and community older than Steam itself) have direct confirmation from Epic, considering we already have liaison with them and have for a long time so that we were able to update (or specifically Smirf, Anthrax and co) the game's engines of Unreal 1 and Unreal Tournament, several people have already reached out to Epic and have already received verification of permission from them.
Alternatively, you could've checked who OldUnreal are considering you don't seem to be part of the community to know we have NDA's with Epic in order to update the first two games, Smirf facilitated the first NDA in Unreal in something like 2005-2006 and the first version of the 227 update if i remember was released in 2008.
But sounds like checking any part of that requires reading which is clearly far too much effort.
lol. Not much into truth or those who espouse it?
