using trackpad as mouse on SteamDeck
I would like to use the right trackpad as mouse, while keeping the rest of the controller profile for controllers on the SteamDeck. I just can;t figure out how to do it. frustrating!

We managed to set this up by assigning "Camera Gyro Aim" to the trackpad from Steam Input, and then in game enabling the Gyro option with good sensitivity values to make sure the input is received.
This means that the trackpad will be received by the game as it was a gyro.
Notice that the actual Gyroscope doesn't need to be used to make this work, so it's not mandatory to enable it, we are simply making the game think that a gyro is there, but in reality it's the trackpad.

The game doesn't support mixed inputs, so it's either one or the other.
I suggest just going all mouse and keyboard inputs as you'll have access to more bindings that way anyway.

Rebinding from mkb requires me to set up two different modes, set input keys for EVERY button in both modes, and after that I would still need to rebind every key from the game options. That is too much work. I'll refund.
You can just leave the ingame bindings as they are, just put mouse and keyboard inputs on the steam deck so you'll only need one mode. No reason to refund the game mate.

That doesn't work. sadly. The game won't bind keys in the options menu if they were not already set in the steam controller template - which is the case for default mkb mode.

I admit I don't own a steam deck but I've used steam input with Easy red 2 since it came out, so I assumed it the deck would work just like using a controller with mouse and keyboard bindings. That sucks if there's issues.

I'm working to change completly the way controllers works in the game, making them natively detected by the game instead of passing trough steam input. I'm also adding a rebind menu for controllers, vibration and gyro compatibility and more.

Well, the update did not fix it at all. I just want to use the official controller scheme while using the trackpad as mouse for aiming...

Out of curiosity, do you have the right thumbstick bound to your gyro? That would at least give some accuracy. Way more than a track pad would.

yeah I believe that should be possible, however I would also like to get native support for trackpads and such. It would be helpful to know what model of trackpad "Fireman" is using so i can better check the compatibility and how to integrate it

I should have stated but my question was for "Fireman" himself. I'm still confused on his issue a bit though. If I can map mouse and keyboard to my dualsense including it's trackpad through steam input with no issues for Easy Red 2, why would it be difficult for a steam deck user to do it which the current steam input was designed for?

Because when I select gamepad input in the game, trackpad cannot be configured as look/aim in the game and the triggers cannot be bound to lmb or rmb. And when I select mkb input in the game, the remapping of buttons will not work in the config menu.
