A question about force-field barriers
I haven't used the forcefield barriers much in my playthroughs, but I'm considering a large stretch of them in my current run. What I'm wondering though, is regarding getting power to them.

Do you need to have power poles spaced regularly along the barrier, or does it work like buildings, where one pole provides the juice for an entire length of barrier regardless of how long it is?

Thank you in advance to anyone who knows the answer and shares! I could just build it and find out, but I'd hate to waste the time and materials if I'm going to need more power poles.

having one connection is enough. keep in mind they (and the electric grid in general) are kinda glitchy, and the entire perimeter fence may suddenly turn off when you add new sections. which may land you in a loooooot of trouble if that happens 3 seconds before an enemy wave.

I've actually not been experiencing any of the glitches with the grid in my more recent games. I noticed that most of the time when it glitches it is right after I 'reconstructed' something electrical, so I'm doing deconstruct, build-new instead. Not sure if that's why, but I've had no glitches with electricity since I started doing that.

Plus this wouldn't be the main perimeter fence for the compound, but rather around the kill box area. I noticed you can shoot through forcefield barriers, so it gives me more time-on-target basically.

I like to rely more on guns than on flamethrowers; flamethrowers are the final line of defense in my killbox. So far, as of year 5 day 10, no enemy has yet made it to the flame throwers.

And thank you for the answer, I am beginning construction now!

I just wanted to thank you one more time. Thanks to the increased line-of-sight that my turrets have now, I just let my survivors sleep through the last hummingfly attack. Turrets handled it all just fine.

I definitely under-valued force fields in my previous playthroughs.
just keep in mind shriekers can shoot through them too. at your power poles. so while you CAN have only one connection, I'd advise having at the very least two, on the opposite ends of the base.

I ended up using the force-fields for my entire base, not just the kill box, it has something like 3 or 4 power connection spots, and in all cases the power poles are actually not targetable from outside the field.
The main connection pole, for example, is behind a 5 deep layer of raised carbon flooring (atop which sits my windowed 'room' for hummingfly assaults, as well as a lot of turrets and spotlights).

I think I'm good!

I do appreciate you saying something though, because if I hadn't thought of that I'd be pretty miffed
