grain?

I have looked everywhere and cannot find a crop that will give me grain. Am I missing something or did I just get unlucky with the seed I used?

Grain cob (corn) and grain grass (wheat) will produce grain when harvested. I’ve never seen both missing on a map though, grain grass is definitely rarer than grain cob though. Alternately you can use chew root if you are trying to produce liquid fuel, it’s the plants sometimes found around ponds with light blue flowers.

The grain grass in particular can be very hard to spot, it sort of blends into the terrain unless you are looking really near it. I have yet to have a map seed that does not have one or the other.

Yup, it’s tall grass. They are easy to spot if you can find some mature ones which are orange in color otherwise you have to look pretty hard. Even then they aren’t always on every map.

It's easiest to just zoom out and hold the mouse button and select a large area of terrain, and look for the 'Tall leafy plant' and / or 'Tall grass' entries in the list of selected objects, then double click the entries to go to them.
