Best way to make $ in trading outpost scenario
Has anyone found what is "meta" in this game mode to make money? Antibiotics sell for a decent amount and aren't too hard to make. I see that you can craft trading supplies but I'm not sure how much they're worth and require constant crafting.

cloth as raw material, think i can complete insane/chaos on that scenarior before day 20...
Seelander 14 maj, 2023 @ 10:58
each full fielld of cloth is 85K you can plant/harvest 4 fields a day in the early game with laara/vicente and a constructer to keep you safe, its boring as hell but highly effecient.

Ok, I'll try cloth, thanks.

well... farming nano tubes
Don't know why but if I farmed all the insect infestations I could have bought the planet in the shortest time possible. They are just too valuable.
Seelander 14 maj, 2023 @ 11:08
yeah but that requires a sniper which you dont have on insane/chaos... well can ofc craft one, difference is cloth all ships buy, carbon some ships buy, but would deff be a money maker as well.... the scenario is broken planet cost should be like 10M not 1M

you can make trade goods from just hay. They (any tradegood, not just hay) sell for about 34ish each IIRC.
Maybe not your end goal, but it's quick and easy for early cash

Make a ♥♥♥♥ ton of grain and convert it to Antibotics. Grain is so good in this game.

I dont see a good eco in that tbh, takes away your early game ressources, takes time to cut/deliver to camp etc. Best way for early cash i have come up with is to start harvesting cloth around the map on day 3-5 when the cloth harvest is at its peak, on bad seeds in terms of cloth i make a solid 85K on that first shipment, just enough to get 2 survivors hired min. on good maps 170K ish., then hire for half a year building up eco and increasing crew give them longer contracts second time around.
Hay as ressource is better than one may think as you can use it in your construction, using hay on centersquares stronger materials on exposed floor

I'm playing a long version of the trade scenario (deed modded to cost 25M) right now, and I've chosen to diversify.

My main sources of money has been cloth, wine, stimulants and smokeweed pipes, but I can't expand further on that because my people can't keep up with the demand past the point I am currently at; the farming is at the capacity of my people to be able to bring in harvests and replant, so I also branched into other goods.

Trade goods, made of wood, in particular, because I can postpone the harvesting and planting of the evergreens into winter, when the labor is freed up from the normal farming tasks. Carbon nanotubes as well, but there's a limit on those if you don't have nests spanning relatively close, based on your rate of metal gain.

You could be lucky enough to get one of the survivors who write short stories. They sell for 1100 each to the normal traders, and for 1600 each to the smugglers. Edmund Goode is one who writes stories, and you can order him to do so quite often -- it is a relaxation buff for him; normally he writes 4-5 stories at a time. One of the ladies also writes, but I forget which one.

Thanks for the additional tips!
Getting the nanotubes right off the bat can get a little hairy what with the fighting the shriekers and all, big risk of dying, they tend to want a nap after 1 kill and such, while admittedly not as high vale as the Nanotubes, I found that finding clothbloom as your first priority you can then plant a huge field of it and in most terrains you can get two or more harvests from them with each harvest yielding 16k or more bolts of cloth depending on size of crop, sell to trade shops due to paying 90 GC per unit and it adds up super fast. Like I said it's nowhere near as fast as the tubes, buts it fast enough with minimal to no risk of death. Just my thoughts on the topic is all 😜.

Enjoy and survive on pardner.
Cloth and pipes are op. I now purposely do not sell them to increase the challenge.

Carbon and CPUs can also generate huge returns, but at least they take a while to acquire.

For Trade and Colony ships, cloth is the best as a mass seller. For Battleships make pipes and booze. For Smuggler ships make medical stuff. Note: Smuggler and Battleships has a smaller budget.

The most ideal map for this scenario is: CITY-SMILE...... ;)
