Just let them work near eachother, relationship wil grow for good or bad, but let them be, like laara and krista they where whining at first, then all of a sudden engaged then i build the wedding arch then a day later "we want to get married" lol.
the more they walk, talk and play with eachother the higher the chance.
Also my starting 4 are:
- Emelin
- Laara
- Ken
- Quin
Every playthrough.
I just completed my playthrough for getting the insane-chaos achievements (and saved connor), so when I start my next game tonight I'll use those as my starters, just to see if it helps.
All I have left for achievements is Bug Mania, I do I did, Bug Whisperer, Getting High, and Master of the Herd, and would like to get as many done on this next run as I can. (if the RNG overlords smile on me for the two that require finding technology).
Characters are Data and Heidi, both from mod packs, so not helpful for vanilla players, I guess.
Data has been mainly salvaging and exploring in the game, while Heidi has been researching constantly, so they never really 'worked together' when they got together. But I have everyone eat and relax at the same time twice a day, so I guess this is enough for them to have interactions leading to 'lovers or haters', so to speak.
Btw, I also found Rita on an expedition the first year sometime, and she has the trait of cheering up the others. I often see her 'happiness boost' in the other character's mood panel, so having a character with such a trait when everyone are often gathered together might be beneficial for relationships as well, but I don't know...
Good luck with future love endeavors!

tip: build lightning rod, else ur table/chairs will be hit a lot
oh i also play on hard
Hope it helps.
I started a new trading scenario this afternoon, using these suggested survivors (I used the more survivors mod to start it with 4 rather than 3 people, just so I COULD). Then Paulette was hired from my 2nd 'contact' posting a job offer (first had no takers).
Anywho, I'm happy to report that as of Year 1, Day 29, Quin and Paulette are lovers! Which is the closest I have ever gotten so far.
Your guidance has steared me closer to my goal, so thank you.
Edit: Paulette has been tailoring next to Quin doing research for many days, so I'm sure that's a big factor. I'm just tickled they have formed a relationship rather than just hating each other like normally happens to me.

I did not know that if a hired hand marries a 'farm owner' in the trading scenario, they became an owner too. Just saved a bundle of money, and super glad I only bought the shortest available contract when she signed up. LOL
Yes once a worker marries he becomes a settler.
I choose to start with this 2 because Samantha was described as romantic so I asumed she falls easily in love and Simon seemed to visual fit to her.
So I placed them into the same bedroom.
And the interest in each other went for an back mostly one sided but flipped .. until both once became interested in each other. But then it still took a while before they married.
Anyway as much as I like the game relationship is flat in this game... nothing. I mean it is just..nothing.. no visible action ... no romance
Even the Sims is more alive in this regard.
But whatever .. I guess that is ok. Only point is something is missing... don't know what but if you play a 10 year game somewhen all is set and done... what else is there to do? Maybe I expect too much.
Don't get me wrong I really like this game just think somehow there could be something more. Not sure what thought.
I said grats in the picture earlier, but grats here as well, and I just have to share my first wedding experience in the game:
So they did, and during preparations...

So that was an eventful wedding day!
By the way, I like the searchlights! And sorry to capture the thread a little here... Got excited by everything lol
(Also, I like the search lights too!). My current game I'm playing with my Slower Research mod and it's going to be quite a while before I even get electricity. I miss my turrets and search lights a little bit...
Daniel seems to get along well with Katia, and Jack with Rita.
