Laara flexible, fast, farming only one that makes it to all my teams regardless of scenario... Ken for me is a must have on the crashlanding scenario on all other scenarios you can get that extra scrap from either buying or producing, making him less valuable, still good on those though, but not as critical as he is on crashlanding.

Emelin - super cook, can do all.
Laara - super farmer. can do all
Ken - super scavenger, can do all
Quin - great researcher and builder. can do all.

In short, people that can do all and crafting in general is good to have.

Why Ken?
gets tons of scrap that you need for alloys, very good in combat, get happy while killing or witnessing it. Perfect person for expeditions and likes crafting.

Spot on. I recently swapped out Laara for Rita just for a change, but yes that is the dream team.

Must admit I've only played crash landing.

Vivien is probably my favorite right now, her 4x bonus to crafting with fabrics and leathers is pretty awesome, plus her interests in cooking and crafting pretty much ensures she’ll always be in a good mood. I haven’t tried Ken yet, usually I go for the speed survivors like Laara, Simon or Talas for scavenging since they can get there faster.

Simon, aside the fact that he has the extra 100+ life he has the movement buff, makes him the best at softening up attackers before they come charging, unless it's one of those freaky 4 legged ETs those are from hell. And he's very useful for sending him far across the map and at some point that becomes vital to your game.

I used to like Simon more but he doesn't have any particular traits besides his speed; the other two traits just make him a tank and if you're tanking hordes, you're doing something wrong. He's a good crafter, yeah, but if he's crafting he's not moving and he's certainly not using his extra health or bleed resistance. Those two traits don't actually help you DO anything; they really only make your mistakes less punishing when a fight goes bad. Traits need to be more proactive to get you to victory.

Yeah, if only he wasnt indifferent to construction he would make a good builder with his speed, but I guess Laara and Talas can fill that role instead. His bleed resist and health is really only useful until you get your defenses set up though.

Beg to differ. My games always end with everyone dying simply because I don't care about evacuating the survivors, everyone fights to death. With Simon around that just buys me several more last stands. His tankiness makes him excellent at blocking doors. In fact with the carbon armor and the pulse rifle he's the next best thing to a mech when it comes to stopping enemies. Even so it does not even matter, because this thread is about my favorite survivor and for the way I play, it's Simon hands down. I'm sure that if I were a farming type of player I'd probably like that cute redhead or that fat guy.

Ahh, a man of culture I see. LONG LIVE THE REDHEADS!

Rita is a good choice because she is interested in both farming and cooking. She also has the ability to make a random discovery every time she goes out on an expedition, which can be invaluable on the desert map because she can discover things that you might not find on your seed. In my last desert game she found Synthplants and Glittercaps early on, which was very useful. Though they take ages to grow there. :D

Her combat skills aren't too bad to start off with either.
She is like a female version of Ken with multiple strengths and no real weaknesses.

Of Course, she lacks the speed that Laara has, but between farming, cooking and expeditions there is no real reason for her to be walking across the map.

I’m really starting to like Nova and Naras too now that I’m learning how to use (or abuse) them. Set them to sleep on the ground, eat on foot and don’t slot any relaxing time in their schedule, then send them out to scavenge far away. I can build a stockpile and shelter near where they are scavenging and harvest some berries so they have no reason to head back to camp. They will stay out there for days. I also have them only eating berries at camp as well so they don’t need to eat the better meals. I feel bad sometimes abusing them like this though lol.

Nova, that girl is unstoppable, a moron yes but an unstoppable one

James -- a mod character. A combination of the best of Ken and Quin -- a builder who can fight, plus a good healer & crafter. As a bonus, he comes equipped with a laser pistol at the get-go.

One question, i do like the concept of especially Nova and her not breaking down. So we know she wont break down and you can save time on relaxation time without having to worry about breakdowns... My question is this, how well does she work the rest of the group wont her extremely bad happiness cause her to take it out on others? yelling/blaming etc. she may not break down but for me it seems all the blaming/yelling etc. stops once i get happiness under control, so to fully abuse her i would keep her cranky sort of speak.
