Just bought the game. Can anyone explain what the situation is with the developer and publisher?
First, I'm loving the game, so this isn't a post to stir up drama or anything like that. I'm just trying to understand the situation. I know that at least one of the developers (injto4ka), along with the community, has provided some unofficial updates via a mod. I think that's super cool of them to essentially continue to work on improving the game for free.

Is the studio, Haemimont Games, still in business? I see they still have a website but the blog and news section do not appear to have been updated since 2018 even though they released several games since them.

What about the publisher, Frontier Foundry? Are they still in business?

If neither one of these companies is operational, who owns the game now? I read something about the game having denuvo. Normally I don't care about such things, but is it possible that if no one owns the game it could stop functioning at some point due to licensing for third party components like denuvo?

Why did the game stop getting official updates?

Frontier Foundry was a sub section of Frontier if i am not mistaken. Games not made by their own dev team were located there. The Foundry shut down and thus no more funding/development for the game that were located there. The publisher Frontier is the owner of the game and i guess they decided the game is done and no more support is needed.
If you play on PC then there is the CommonLib mod for unofficial support and a whole slew of mods in the workshop.
Haemimont Games has stated they would add content if Frontier requested it. As FF indicated, this is not likely (unless Frontier reverses their decision after the disastrous worse than expected results of Planet Coaster 2).
