If i were you i would not worry about something that has not happened yet. It makes you grow gray and old much faster.
There has only been one DLC, and it was released before the Paradox purchase. Now that Paradox owns the game, I would expect dozens more DLCs in the very near future and a crippling of the existing game to make it less functional without the DLCs that Paradox will be introducing shortly. It is their modus operandi with every other game they have released.
It is the reason why people go out of their way to avoid any game owned by Paradox.
The worry comes if they ever release Stranded: Alien Dawn II, where the price will be AAA for a stripped down version, and you'll end up paying 4x (or more) for an eventual feature complete game. Not exactly a worry - for me it just means I'll not be buying it, which is sad.
I get that they may have needed a bailout, or perhaps needed investment, but it's always sad when a company makes a calculated decision that they KNOW will upset at least a portion of their fan base. Why would anyone choose Paradox is the strange bit for me - they are a damaged brand for a lot of gamers, and one of the companies that have actively harmed the gaming industry with their insane, predatory DLC practises.
Wouldn't be surprised if their launcher was added.
Maybe see a Stranded alien dawn 2, that'd be more likely something to be worrying about. CK3 was released with so many cut features from CK2 (some of which were great), many still aren't in CK3.
I think the only real concern is if future updates break mods, which is a risk with any game that has such an active modding community.
That said, injto4ka has been extremely helpful with folks on that, and I'm sure that he and Haemimont will continue to be so they can be fixed and updated.
As for concern about Paradox, I'm going to be optimistic that they're not going to bombard the game with a bunch of ticky tacky DLC. The two companies did a good job with Surviving Mars on that.
Most likely what Paradox will do since they acquired not just the game, but the IP itself as well, is simply make a sequel and (hopefully) flood it with enough marketing to attract some semblance of a active community. But I am willing to bet money they are not gonna pull a Sims and drop 1,600 dollars of DLC for this game.
As far the analytics, people will definitely come back to the game once more content comes out for it and it's known to still be actively developed.
I agree that this is definitely not going to be a DLC fest like Stellaris or The Sims. Honestly, the game itself just can't support that.
