What requires a freezer for preservation?

I've been looking around my stockpiles and other than cooked food there doesn't seem to be much that needs a freezer because they already hit indefinite preservation with a refrigerator. Raw meat, blueberries and manure seems to be all there is, am I missing something?

Raw meat, some veggies (e.g. buttermelon, beefberries), fruit, grain - these all need to be in a freezer.

Pretty much any food can be put in the freezers from what I understand. However they dont hold alot, and break down often. I never use them myself, I just build a freezer room. Make a room out of brick for best results, depending on size (I usually do 10x10 or so), add about 4 ac units, set to 30 degrees, and then put shelves in it, I usually mark the shelves for food and drink items only.

Ah that's clever. I had four fridges and two freezers in my last game. The maintenance cost was no problem because I had thousands of metal at that point and my main bottleneck was electronics since two of my guys were indifferent to crafting.

Now that I know better I could probably do with much less, maybe even one of each. I made the mistake of gathering 500-1000 of every food "just in case" and got into electric power relatively late. It was a pain to store everything away, but once you have refrigeration tech food lasts forever and you only need enough to last until your next growing season, a few hundred at most.
