Furnace: smelt scrap metals into refined metal alloys

Should I do it?
I mean, I use wood instead of scrap metal whenever I can, so, do I NEED to keep scrap metals? Or should I convert it all to metal alloys?

You will need metal alloys throughout the game. Some builds and for repairs. Keeping some scrap metal on the side is good too. There are things that require scrap metal.

And if you need scrap you can convert the metal alloy back to scrap by deconstructing the alloy bars

Scrap is for traps, lightning rods, and regular solar panels. Raw ore is for respirator masks. Other than that you'll use the alloys most of the time. You can turn a stack of alloys back into scrap, though I don't know of any way to split a large stack.

Usually I put an "until" order on my furnaces depending on supply and whatever the biggest thing is that requires metal, 30, 50 or 100.
