1. FINAL-FANTASY this one starts on like a plateau like area with a lot of trees and cotton nearby and TONS of berries and graincob as well as a lot of Herbivores, nearest nest is a little bit away (like 500m). Melons are VERY far though, also lots of stone and metal.
2. FFA this one was neat, the actual landing is actually not bad for a small quick base and the nearby plateaus both provide a plethora of resources, Grasses being the harder thing to find due to area, but I made a nice defensive position near crash that lasted very well, 2 nests are near(ish) they are both about 300m away down slopes. I will say animals are limited though only Giant Caterpillars and Dekka things.
3. AVALON this one starts you across the lake where LLL will start you, just on the top of the ridge above the lake. This was a nice one, Albeit the nest is fairly close (~200m) down a nearby slope. this overlooks a beautiful scenic view though and a nearby spot up the slope from it is a nice arch for a base, but I tried starting crash zone, and found everything within a reasonable gathering distant, this actual landing zone is ok sized but is near quite a bit.
4. LEGENDARY-START this is my current fave, plenty of all the resources near. Nest is kinda close again (~300m) but only one is actually close the next closest being about twice as far. You start with Evergreen on the plateau and Broadleaf right down the slope, Bushes can be hard to come by, so I would suggest chopping block to get the stick you need, as trees and abundant. all the veg you can handle in the immediate area, as well as cotton and skinbark. The plateau overlooks a neat valley with a huge rock structure that make a bowl in the valley and a rock formation next to crash that make a great place to build an entrance to a base, This one is probably the best starter position I have had.
GGs and GL all, hope these are fun for you!
You land in between 2 rock hills, corn, melons and berries very close.
Enough trees to get you started. Rocks and what I suspect is some mineral to mine. There is also a big chunk of the plant that make the sugary thing. All these are very close.
Top that off with a big plain with a gazillion animals, so many animals! In all directions.
Only drawback so far, I didn't see a cotton or silicon plant, but I only played for a little bit, so they may be out there.
JOHN-WICK
You start off in a place with enough cotton to make your first winter clothing, grain grass is present and to supplement you either have berries close by or melons somewhat way off, the latter is better to be the first research if you wish to immediately send someone over to examine them for planting/harvesting.
Don´t know if the advanced techs are always the same, two of the best if they are, graphite solar panels and printers.
There are plenty of trees and stone leaving you to choose.
The only downside is that new survivors only come with the balloon if you are lucky. I got Quin with my first "thin smoke".
A big plain panning out and a lot of animals. This will be my starting area tomorrow!
Graincob
BeefBerries
Skinbark
Buttermelon
Chew Root
its next to a large lake with plenty of starting resources.
Chitiin synthetics
Veggie Armour
Meat Printing
Printed Compnents
Improved Lasers
Improved Rail Guns
Start at an arch rock formation with just about all starting resources located to the north. Very flat map with lots of room to build. My favorite so far.
I've been looking forever for a seed that had EVERY resource, and this is it. That includes chew root, beef berries, and grain grass. Those three never seem to come together. But they're all here, along with the rest. Some are a hike, but not unreasonable. Trees are somewhat limited, but there's a lot of rocks. Enough wood to get what you need, maybe plant some forests. Soil has enough loam patches to get the job done. There's a nest close enough to farm, but not too close.
Walk-in survivor night of day 5 (Nova)
Starting breakthroughs:
hay cloth
printed components
fuel fermentation
improved solar cells
battery optimization.
I Use Ken, Quin, Krista And Vivien. Day 6 Emelin wanders in.
1.) PROMISED-LAND (don't judge me I typed a lot of words XD)
The crash is about 50m from a large Rock formation that makes a kind of bowl, very nice for the base (it is a bit cramped though fitting 7 people comfortably, but it mostly works). resource wise it has a nice Broadleaf forest nearby with glowshrooms and plenty of fruit bushes as well as melon and some beefberries as well. Cotton is faily close, but skinbark is a tad further, not that bad though. lots of animal on the plain near the the big rock, mix of pretty much everything. The closest nest is up a slope about 500m or so, and the next much further. (sidenote: LEGENDARY-START starts up the slope from this on the plateau overlooking this start locale, but is much closer to the nests.)
2.) SPQR
Currently the one I am playing on, and so far one of my faves. your start with a large cluster of rocks that make a great area to hug up against and use as a part of defense (a Meteor hit one the rocks instead of base XD) there is plenty of food crops as, pretty much one of everything except chewroot. Cotton is also very close, skinbark not so much, about 300m away from crash. Lots of Ulfen around and a few of the caterpillar things. There are a good amount of trees nearby but not so much you wont have to pull from a bit further the more you expand, advance, etc... there are 8 nearby (within 250m) Scrap/Salvage crash sites around, there is also a lot of ore around as well.
GGs and GL
I started with Ken, Quin, Rita and Jayla. Got Emelin in the first half of first year, Jack in spring of second year. Both just wandered in. Then later in the second winter I got Samantha from a Smoke Signal expedition and just a few days later Daniel from a Rocket Signal. Both on first try.
Never got any survivor on other map seeds, even after 5 or 7 years. Tried this one... got my eight mate achievement. And the map is really nice, every ressource found, except the chew root.
i confirm this is a good seed - can get well protected - got all the breaktroughs - 3rd weapon - all important plants near
also confrim: "sleeping" Maki joined the camp end of day5 (hoped, get Krista for reseach ...)
edit: and now, i got "pacifist" Nara at 1st week - 2-times - so the walking-in is random
negative: a bit uneven at the landing-pot, but flat area is near
- batteries+freezer are late to research at the tech-tree
- no electronic-printing at start
- no fuel-from-insects
-- i can NOT confirm the 2nd walk-in, sorry EDIT: late Summer Y2 joined Vivianne
I got two survivors within the 1st year.
Laara
Katrina
decent resources (you have to walk a fair bit to get cotton but its about).
There is also maybe 4-6 maps that are static, and maybe 8-10 spawn points for each map, with your seed generating 'different' breakthroughs or events that happens later maybe.
If you become familiar with a map and test out random seeds and jot down notes that shares the same map, you will come to the conclusion of what maps for what seeds.
If someone can 'mod' the game, they can try to get a top down view of each map they find and then use the seeds and 'label' each spawn points unique to that map.
