No reason for death listed.

Tip for feeding Hope:
Once you've scavenged enough ranged weapons, laser pikes/swords from dead bots are essentially useless. Quickly disassemble all you scavenge. Some will yield power cells that you can (besides powering your base) break down into 30 energy crystals (and 2 electronics) that will be 6 meals for Hope.

I just lost the game in the same way. I just couldn't catch a break with feeding her, she eats those battery's up like they were candy. I was searching for fuel or ore to try and keep her alive but the map was a bad one and my luck when salvaging was bad.
It kisses me of though when you are playing all day and this ends your game. Why did they have to make her rouge-like? Why not just your average android that needed saving?
I think they made the keeping her fed thing a bit over the top and a bit daft to boot.

But thanks for the tip about breaking down weapons. I did have a few spare pulse rifles.

Also, she can't die unless you hammer a nail through her core processor. She should just power down until you can restart her again. You have to make your mind up, is she a machine or is she human?
It's in the details.

Hope should not die if we, the customers, had our right to repair. :steammocking:
For lower difficulties with infrequent attacks (and thus less bot salvage), you do need to prepare a steady supply of fuel and a silicon plant farm.

Hope behaves like a human and thus (as you found out) is greedy. She'll drink her silica energel supply whenever energy < 60% (akin to human fullness). So initially, while your silicon farm is still growing and you don't have nearby wild silicon, you can disallow food for her (turn off). Then wait till energy < 10%, enable food, watch her run and eat, then disable food again. Basically, she only gets to eat once a day.
If she wasn't a machine she would weigh several hundred pounds the way she wolfs down the chow. Thanks for the tips, I will put them to use next time I feel the need for some more abuse.

I know she is one greedy b******. She is nose bagging it down every 5 minutes. I guess this was the dev's idea of adding a quick fix challenge regardless of it damaging the fun part of the game somewhat.
It puts me right of playing in this mode.

I'm about 5 hours into a game and it's as if her consumption goes up over time. She is near constantly eating all the power cells I can find or knock up plus ore and fuel. She is a bottomless trash bucket. They really need to turn her consumption down, or maybe there's a mod.
I recon she spends a good 50% of her time consuming.

I can see why Guardian vids are not popular on you tube. No one want's to play in guardian mode. Basically all they have done is added a companion with a different skin instead of creating a proper android along with it's story and mechanics.
The DLC was a con job.

Initially I was negative on Guardians but after trying it on harder difficulties, I was hooked. It's fast and furious. The constant stream of high tech salvage means you tech up fast. I actually never had to research Electronics, CPU crafting or Silica Energel or even observe silicon plant. Some folks go overboard and end up with 10K scrap, 3K electronics and thus invite 500+ bot attack waves. The fights are way more interesting than watching bugs run into flamethrowers.

As for the DLC itself, the introduction of delivery drone and service/harvest bots really sped up the game. Even Military Outpost on Insane Chaos can be completed within 2 game years. I play with no mods.
